I finally got on the trolley last month and watched the first four seasons on Netflix.  The writing is uneven at times, but it's easily one of the best-acted shows I've ever seen. (except for Lyla) .

Awesome to see Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton get well-deserved Emmy nods, but Tyra and Landry will always be, for me, the heart of the show. I want them to have their own variety show.

Hell yes I'm buying this.

Landry has been my favorite since the beginning.

'I'm thinking about starting a Christian speed metal band. Are you in?'

I want that shirt too.

And Lyla is a lot less annoying in the couple of episodes she is in this season.  She was pretty awful in the first couple seasons.  I did like her singing that song along with the radio in the used car on the way to state in the last episode of season 1.  And season 2 gets rightfully maligned, but the episode focusing on her and Tim and Jason in Mexico I enjoyed quite a bit.
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

I started the first season last month and i don't think there was an episode where I didn't tear up. Season 2 had some rough points but  so far I realllly am liking Season 3.

Seriously I feel like I'm not even watching a show because the acting is so great.

Matt Saracen is my hero.
He's this soulless bastard from Siberia. I once saw him shove Fred Savage's face in a toilet.

This season has not held up to the promise of the finale of last season. One would think that a new team and a new school would refresh the series, but instead it's been stale. Too many characters, boring football, and thwarted chemistry between Coach and Mrs. Coach = SNOOZE.

Man this season is pretty bad. I almost stopped watching until Matt showed up. Still the thing with him and Julie is a little too Dawson's Creek. Vince's dad is just awful. Good actor but such a dispicable character. One of the few reasons I am still watching is to see him fight Coach Taylor or see Vince get kicked off the team.

I thought this last season was great.  Like last season, I watched it on DirecTV and am considering re-watching when it airs again on NBC.

Definitely a close second to the Wire for my favorite show of all time.

Yeh it finished alot better than it started. I think the tension in the last few episodes was well done. Won't say anything else. I forgot a lot of people won't see it til nbc.

I've skimmed this thread and heard a bit about this show, mostly positive things it seems.  i'm in the market for a new show to give my free time up to for awhile, my last attempt, Dexter, was a disaster.

is this worth getting into? do i need to care at all about football? is this one of those doesn't get good til the 3rd season kinda shows where i'm going to have to slog through 2 seasons of crap?

if i don't get a response in 24 hours i'm just going to dive in. unless you can warn me away from it or encourage me to start it sooner.

Watch the first season. Everything after that, you've been WARNED. Season 2 was the writer's strike and is a hot mess. Season 3 is pretty good, but it goes downhill in 4 and into a ditch in 5.

I am the furthest thing from a sports fan, and I got really into this show. Check out season one, for sure.

Some great acting, music, babes of both the male and female variety, BUDDY GARETTY. This show has it all

Football players (especially HS football players) have always terrified me.  And yet this show took me by surprise.  My wife and I became dedicated fans very quickly.

Haven't seen the movie though.  Is it worth viewing?

BUDDY GARETTY

I wish this show had been bigger only for the possibility that the Buddy Garetty voice would become a thing like the There Will Be Blood voice. Exasperated out-of-breath Texan is so much fun to do.

Man the whole Epick story was pointless and Santiago just disappeared.

The Epyckhck (sp?) story was ridiculously dumb, but it would have been nice if that Santiago story had been given a bit more weight.  I think the writers just hoped people would forget about him.  But he deserved some sort of resolution.

Also, I've been rewatching "The Wire" and realized that Wallace and Vince were the same person.  That one blew right by me before.
