Oh and one more! Tom's rendition of Elvis Costello and Lou Reed singing Perfect Day!!!
Pretty sure that was 2009...

Tom's Jimmy Webb story was certainly a highlight of '09 as well. That has to get some sort of dap.

Caller of the Year:  Fredricks.  He is, far and away, my favorite caller.

Call of the Year:  Mike from Manhattan, I think--Jet mag. call.  Completely killed me.

BIGGEST LAUGH OF THE YEAR:  When Tom played Mike the salutation from Bruno S.  That WHOLE show was incredible--maybe my favorite of the year.

2009 has been my favorite year of THE BEST SHOW.

The best!

Saddest call:  After a build up on the board, with 3 minutes remaining on the show, Hugman finally calls in, and even though he is the last caller of the decade, is told
Tom:  Unfortunately Jason has some bad news for you, tell him, Jason
Jason:  I'm the last caller of the decade
Hugman:  (teary) that's bad news indeed
Tom:  Call back next week

Bwhahahaha
so so sad.

Even sadder:  Hugman doesn't bother calling in the next week.

I believe he was at an audition during the show then.

That said, Jason calling in at the end was pretty great. It got a big laugh from me.

Best Guest - PFT

Best Call - Pastor Josh asking how to find Ted Leo's albums in a record store.  Great question!

dunno how they fit, category wise, but my favorite moments of the last year were:

* The Gathering of the Juggalos dissection w/Paul F. Tompkins
* The Martin Short Interview
* The Weirdos Exposed unmasking

And on a personal note, I appreciated the opportunity to tell a treasured family story on the air.

It was disappointing hugman did not get to talk more, but great to hear from an all-timer like Jason anytime on the show.

Nothing about hugman is sad, he is awesome.  He does deserve an award of some sort though.  For something good.

What about a life time achievement award?  I know Officer Tom only called in a few times this year, but I think his loyalty to the program and the consistent quality of his calls over the years should be recognized.

I meant Jason was the sad one.  Wanting to be the last caller of the decade - pffft.  What a whiny baby.
But now that you mention it, I guess I see your point about Hugman being seen as sad.
