I'm so mad about this, but I'm at a loss for a meaningless empty gesture that would give me the illusion of communicating my rage to faceless executives at NBC. Also, Jay Leno is the fucking worst.

If NBC decides to just let Conan go, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. ABC or Fox would get him back on the air as fast as you can say Conando.

What's with all this Mr. Leno and Mr. O' Brien crap? I hate when fun things get spoiled by money.

If this actually happens, NBC deserves all the terrible ratings it's been getting. Their Thursday night line up is pretty funny, maybe they should cancel it. F corperate politics, F money, and F NBC (which is the only of the big 4 networks that I actually watch). What happens to Late Night with The Roots... I mean Jimmy Fallon?
You look like a really healthy Arthy Lang.

In a statement released Thursday, NBC said, "Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today".

I knew this was a SNAFU waiting to happen as soon as I realized that Conan really was going to LA.

It seems beyond idiotic that they would choose to do this.

EDIT: they should just let Leno go home to his car and chin waxing duties.

Maybe it's all for the best and maybe the networks will see that perhaps there is life after "late night" TV and they can find some way to create a new genre rather than continue with the dreck that has basically just been the millionth iteration of what Allen/Parr/Carson invented.

Perhaps there is life after the "desk/sofa/monologue/guest/band" formula, especially now that each and every second seems over-scripted and planned and there is not a moment of unpredictability during ANY of it.

Conan was great in the Late Night slot, but even that was getting stale, really stale.

Why can't TV writers get more say about changing it up a little? How about having a guest on that doesn't know each and every question on the little blue cards beforehand? How about an interview set up by (maximum) only three publicists and three producers?

Is a masturbating bear the best thing we're gonna have to look back on in our old age?

It seems kind of unfair to have let the genre stagnate this much.

...rant over.

The one thing I still really enjoy on Conan's show is whenever Brian McCann makes an appearance. Or even just his crazy lunatic voice (twitter tracker!!).
"You want me to recognize you and I won't. I won't acknowledge you! I deny you. So you keep begging and begging. The door is slammed on you. I want nothing to do with you. You will die unrecognized by me."

Normally I'm pretty mum about Leno because really what can I add to his legacy of awfulness that hasn't been said a million times before but how big of a fuckface was this guy to play victim and call out the network on his show last night? Worst guy.

I think you're looking for Last Call with Carson Daly. Good Luck!

He really is a monster. How he's managed to keep his nice-guy image all these years, despite being a total ash olé from the original Tonight Show takeover (the Letterman screwjob), via all his awfulness over the years, and the scabbing during the strike, to his "retirement" and backpedalling, to this fucking mess - not to mention the cars, the greed, the total blandness of his shows - is beyond me.

I agree with the sentiment but I don't see many huge celebrities going along that kind of format.
