Shots from inside the phone room of The Best Show On WFMU's marathon pledge show.
The show took in $83,566.73 which set a record for most money ever taken in during a three hour shift. I am proud to have been a part of Best Show and WFMU history.
My first call was for over $1,000 but I could hardly hear the caller making him repeat his info a number of times. The other calls were came in a lot clearer much to my relief.

I had the honor of sitting next to Laurie from Miami (by way of Chapel Hill). She is a really sweet person and great company.
Terre T of Cherry Blossom Clinic gave out cooking aprons for everyone in the phone room to wear while Tom dressed as the head chef.
The guests were Patton Oswalt and John Hodgeman who were both hilarious.
It had been looking forward to this for a long time and I had a great time.

That is the real Abba Box!

That's Ben Kharackh (r) and Laurie from Miami by way of Chapel Hill. It was great meeting both of them. That's Matt in the middle.

Tom getting ready for the big show.

My phone in a rare moment when it wasn't ringing.

John Hodgman on the phone with a Mouse of Today pledge. Anyone who called in a Mouse pledge ($365) got to talk to John.

AP Mike in white chef outfit.

Therese reading the pledges to Tom on the air.

Patton Oswalt.

Tom is the head chef.

Laurie taking a pledge call.

Yours truly in the phone room.

That's Chad. He collected all the pledge cards. Here he is sorting them out.

Terre T

John and Patton engaged in a round of Science Fiction trivia. Did you know that Time Lords can only regenerate 12 times?

Laurie and myself at the phones.

Dave the intern.

Inside the "submarine."

Watching the finale from the phone room.

Tom and the gang singing the finale, "Atlantis", the Donovan song.

Incredible night you guys! That's an amazing haul. I saw some early pics before my computer connection at this hotel kept farting out, and I was wondering what the deal with Tom's pants was - those chef outfits are awesome!
Remember how he couldn't stop his leg?

Oh no! Laurie! I didn't know you were there. I'm sorry for not saying hi. Sorry to everyone I missed while I was there. I was holed up trying not to be nervous about playing the guitar for the majority of the night.

That's what I was thinking. I know every little bit helps, but come on.
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.

Laurie, you look well but tired.*  Please get some rest.  Maybe after the marathon?

99 cents would be more appropriate.

After I left last night, I was thinking & the scene in the phone room reminded me a little of Mad Men..

Of course, this is a loose analogy, but it's just for fun, so here goes:

Tom as Don, AP Mike as Sterling (white hair), Patton Oswalt as Cooper (shoes off (metaphorically speaking)), & Therese as Joan, holding it all together.

The pledgers were the clients & Tom/Don made the pitch & landed the big account!

and the rest of the cast.. Terre as Betty (since she's a Betty), Spoony as Pete Campbell, and Corrie as Trudy. And Hodgman could be Lane Pryce... since he's the most British.

I want to fit in Laurie from Miami & Harold Blvd & Ramsey & Mo, but I'll let you guys pick who you want to be. I think I'll call dibs on Peggy tho, since she's kinda quirky & I can relate to that.

Feel free to Mad Men yourself if you were there!
