Even the cheapest seats seem really expensive to me, especially after being raped by ticketmaster. I think I'll stick to going to UCB shows. I can attend 10 Comedy Death Ray shows for the price of one of the cheapest tickets to the Gibson Ampitheatre. No contest, in my opinion.

Yeah all the ticketmaster charges suck but I don't think the ticket prices were too out of line for the venues he's playing.

While I wholeheartedly support the idea, I can't personally justify the price, especially for the worst seats in a venue. I'm considering my marathon pledge my expensive expenditure for a while. Plus, both Boston dates were sold out by the time I got to a computer anyway.

Ha, yeah - between Conan and the marathon I'll pretty much have no social life for a while.

Yeah, I'm from the Boston area and I just can't justify paying $73 (with service charges) to sit in the top balcony of a theater with horrible sight lines. I"m still really excited to find out what it's like so could anybody who's going give us a little review?

I thought this was a joke when I read it.

Conan O'Brien coming to TBS
Posted: 12:44 PM ET

And the winner of the Conan O'Brien sweepstakes is ... TBS.

According to a press release sent out by the cable network (which, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner), the comedian is joining TBS to host a late-night show that is expected to debut in November. O'Brien's show will be followed on TBS' schedule by George Lopez's "Lopez Tonight," which will move to midnight.

"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I'm headed to basic cable," O'Brien said in the statement. "My plan is working perfectly."

O'Brien is currently embarking on a nationwide comedy tour, but he made bigger headlines earlier this year when NBC decided to move Jay Leno back to "The Tonight Show's" late-night slot. O'Brien, who had been hosting "Tonight," left the network.

Is George Lopez going to complain about being bumped back on the schedule by a white guy's show?

Can someone put TBS in some kind of context? Status? History? I'm serious, I know nothing about it. As pointed out by John Junk on twitter, when I see "TBS" I think "The Best Show".

If he does, I promise he'll have at least one viewer.

It's just the channel that plays a lot of low-tier sitcoms and Family Guy.

It's such a boring channel it hurts to even think about.  For years the main thing it was known for was being owned by Ted Turner and airing every Atlanta Braves baseball game.

TBS, as noted above, is not a great station. It was a local station in Atlanta until recently and besides braves baseball and Seinfeld reruns there just wasn't much going on.

But here is one exciting aspect. TBS is closely connected to Cartoon Network and thus Adult Swim. In fact, I think Adult Swim is in the old TBS building here in Atlanta. I'd love to see Conan dip into that think tank. They will all be in the same family.

Here's an interesting anecdote about the early days of TBS.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Among other things, then-Braves owner Ted Turner suggested the nickname "Channel" for (Andy) Messersmith and jersey number 17, in order to promote the television station that aired Braves games. Major League Baseball quickly nixed the idea.

Ted Turner is like one of the bad guys he created for Captain Planet.
