I like the idea of video games more than playing them.  I hate the fact that so many of them seem to be nothing more than fancy Skinner boxes.  But the problem with that line of reasoning, is that the same applies to basically everything in life. 

I buy games for my iPhone all the time but I only play the super casual ones, especially word puzzles.  And the NY Times crossword app.  I played Catan for a while but I think it would be better on an iPad-sized screen.  (I hope that touch-based tablets take off because it would be good for board games.  Board games are another thing I like, but usually avoid since they're very cluttery.  Plus I don't have enough nerd friends.)

I had a Wii for a while and enjoyed playing some of the clever games on it.  And in the past I have been addicted to Advance Wars for the Gameboy and a few other turn-based strategy games.  I stopped playing Civilization games when I realized there were basically built to addict me.  I also have a soft spot for Sierra and LucasArts style adventure games, as well as for Rougelike games.  It's also cool that there are so many crazily-inventive indie games now, like Jumpman--http://runhello.com/.

There appears to be an iPhone version of Jumpman out now, and it appears to totally suck.  That's another issue with video games, they really are designed for particular screen sizes and input hardware, which makes it hard to play old, classic games, even with emulation, without that hardware.  (I actually have one of those NES controllers that are modified for USB so I can play old NES games through emulation the "right" way.  But I never actually do this.)

I think back on the times when I've been happiest in life, and it's when I don't play video games. I'm going to take my ps3 to my dad to use as a blu Ray player. I've spent about 7 days of play time on modern warfare 2 since it came out

I play Modern Warfare the most. Like a previous poster noted, it does have its up and downs, but I love it because it is really fun to play with friends. If other FOTs play online, we should play together. I'm on xbox, and my gamertag is Marcoplos. Send me a friend request on there with fot in message and let's play.

I've got a pretty bad backlog of computer games, many of which I got during Steam's holiday sale last Christmas, most of which I suspect I may never get around to actually playing. On the bright side, knowing I have all those games that I haven't touched has been a large part of the reason why I haven't bought a Playstation 3 (yet). I'm working my way through Tropico 3 right now, and have been playing a lot of Devil Survivor on my DS (which is a pretty great game in the same vein as the Advance Wars series). I've also sunk an ungodly amount of time into Rock Band.

Right now, playing God of War 3, though I'm taking my time with it. Kinda videogame'd out lately. But I would recommend Uncharted and Uncharted 2 to anyone -- awesome games.

Oh man, no doubt there. (Steam sale), next to collection of console games.
Good games need to stop coming out so I can finish them. (Or at least ones that don't look good ;) )
