Anyone else excited about this film?
I'm also braced for the almost inevitable disappointment for any film from the UK in general and more specifically the further works of the alumni of any decent sit-com from any country.

I've heard nothing but great things about this, and yes, I too am looking forward to it.

"From the guys who watched every action movie..."  Great stuff.

I loved Shaun of the Dead.  This is looking to be, dare I say, even better?

It's hilarious.. I even thought it was much better than Shaun. I decided immediately afterwards that I would see it again soon cos it's one of those films with a million hidden jokes (maybe less than a million). But I'm not sure if it's still in the cinema here.

I'm excited for you all!

There's a great article about Hot Fuzz in the new issue of Film Comment.

I just spent five minutes trying to find that article before realising you had to pay for it.
I thought this was the internet and everything was free.

Attention DC area FOTS who wanna see this movie!

Tomorrow night, Friday the 23rd, at 7pm, there will be an advanced screening of Hot Fuzz at the awesome Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse.
Afterwards, there will be a Q+A w/ the stars and filmmakers!

It's free if you sign up for the Drafthouse newsletter.

This is the same venue that is hosting Paul F. Tompkins in a few weeks.  It's a special place.

Sign up for the newsletter here:

If any of you are going, let me know!  I'm going alone and have never met a single one of you mother-fathers.

Oh man, I'll have to haul ass tomorrow to try and make it to this.  Dorvid, how early do you think people will start lining up?  I've heard of this place but never been there.

Did they send out the e-mail yet? I just now signed up for the newsletter and haven't gotten it.

I signed up too but I think we missed it, we could have had a good old fashioned FOT gathering.

Are we talking about the same screening, Jason?  You're coming down to Virginia for this?

I haven't received the "ticket" yet, but if you got the confirmation email w/ the "2 for 1" coupon, that should constitute proof of the newsletter subscription,
which should be good enough.  They're a really mellow group, over there.  Have no idea how early people will line up, but the theater only holds about 250. That said, most of their special movie events barely or don't sell out, though if this was on MySpace, we're screwed.

I have a problem now, though.  Can't leave DC until 5ish.  Need to train/bus home, get car, and back up to Arlington.  Probably not gonna happen by 630.
I could get to the venue by 530, but without car, and would be stranded post-show, 10 miles north of home in Springfield.

Don't suppose you're coming from the south, Chris L?

No matter how late I arrive, I'm up for trying this!  Worse comes to worse, the world's best bar is also in that neighborhood, and the weather tomorrow night is gonna be sweet.

I'm 90% sure we'd still get in if we got there early enough w/ the printed coupon.  In fact, I'll print a few of them if you guys didn't get the first email.

I'm dumber.  I was far too excited that a guy I've never met was gonna watch a movie with me.

Don't sweat it.  I'd glaze over my comments, too.

Yeah, I got that coupon.  I didn't know if I could use that for this.

I'll PM you in a minute, Dorvid.
