My loathing for the band name "DC Snipers" was only heightened when one of them called in to state that they don't come from DC and also hate DC.
It's either a lame generic anti-establishment metaphor or something chosen simply because it appeals to the worst in people.
At the very best, it's 20 years too soon.

This is for non-musical and non-personal reasons.  I've heard very little, know nothing about them, and never ever will.

I don't want a better-informed opinion!
Hating the DC Snipers only for their name feels just and true. I'll never let it go.

Come on, guys.

Tom's evisceration of the then-new Brian Wilson record spoke to me - few things are more depressing than Beach Boys nostalgia.

I'm no fan of Stevie Malkmus, self-mythologizing New Yorkers or bad guys in general

Todd Solondz. Storytelling, Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse were all hilarious. It's like with Tarantino- I hate the guy and his ego, but I find the movies very entertaining.

I think the most hilarious part of Happiness is the child molestation.

For me the funniest was the Russian cabbie character.

-Don't you miss Russia?
-F*** the c*** of Russia!

Just hilarious.

That may be the worst movie in the history of all movies. I was forced to sit through that horrible piece of crap in a theater. Ugh.

I loved it.
Did anyone else find themselves sympathizing with the paedophile?

I did sympathize- more at his foolishness rather than at his getting caught.

Those son & dad conversations were extremely disgusting but at the same time the funniest thing also. The only other movie scene that I can think of that matches that level of sickness and hilarity is the "squeal like a pig" scene from Deliverance. Anyways, Happiness wasn't as hilarious the second time I watched it. Dollhouse is easily my favorite. It's very sweet and it's still funny after several viewings.

I liked Happiness & Storytelling. Hopefully, Solandz will continue to deliver the goods with his latest misantropic offering:

I hated Storytelling, except for the American Beauty bit but I loved Palindromes.

Woah, KTB you blow my mind.  "Helloo Tom"

I actually liked "Happiness" and "Dollhouse" but Dollhouse freaked me out a little because of the very accurate New Jerseyness of it.  It's a pretty good crystallization of the shit-house that is public middle school.  However, the kidnapper thing was dumb.  I actually did kinda sympathize with the child molester which was a weird fucked up thing and I thought the father/son conversations were just disturbing and fucked up and not in any way funny. The ending of the movie was stupid, but I thought it was good.  However, after that I swore off Todd Solondz forever.

To me, Napolean Dynamite was in a way more cynical thann Dollhouse because it just took the trappings of contemporary lower-middle-class pathos that Solondz developed and just made them props for meaningless comedy.

I just watched most of an episode of SNL for the first time in... a long time.
That show was, uh, as they say in the industry, not good.
(Weekend Update excepted, actually).
Now write me a receipt so I can tip on outta here...

HOWEVER, I am unapologetically psyched for this: http://enjoyment.independent.co.uk/books/news/article2390834.ece
...provided it's not just an abridged version of stuff already in The Silmarillion.
