Ted Leo's paradigm shift
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:05:00 AM »
Ok, I admit I have not read this essay in its entirety yet, but I was excited to see a mention of Reginald Van Voorst, whom you will recall Tom met on his legendary train ride. Looking forward to Monday's announcement.

Dang, I was hoping it was going to be the announcement of the Ted Leo Institute for Biomusicology. I do have to admit, I thought it was one big joke with Reginald Van Voorst as the punchline, but it looks real. And I'm extremely excited.

From what I hear, it's a re-imagining of Bugsy Malone.

I am excited for whatever it might be. Ted has yet to let me down, and I don't expect this to be the start.

I'm hoping, being an FOT and a musical theatre performer, that we will get first dips on auditions. I am preparing my sixteen bars of "Moonlit Nite" as we speak.
Doing it Mentos style.

Ted's project sounds exciting, but I'm more interested in whether he's a social democrat or a democratic socialist. Sound like the later.

The more specific term is the one Ted uses: libertarian socialist. Democratic socialism typically implies statism, while libertarian socialism does not. That's (mainly) why one is considered a form of anarchism, and the other is not.

Oh that Tom and Ted got me good. However, the build-up was worth the payoff. Great video, a happy way to start the week.

Someone should do a popup video version identifying all the FOT.

Liked how PFT held the album with two fingers, showing his disgust. Only wished he would have included  "the Great WHITE Way," like his Andrew Lloyd Weber character says it.
