If you are in L.A., you probably already know about this. If not...

TONIGHT:

So jealous. Ty has no time for Philly this tour. :(

I have nothing to look forward to 'til the end of August. I might go see Barrington Levy.

I had so much fun at Barrington Levy this past spring.

I had so much fun at Fucked Up last night.

It has been SUCH a surprisingly great year for shows. The cup runeth over.

PS: That Ty Segall/Redd Kross poster is so great-thanks for posting it!

Got a free ticket to Slayer, Rob Zombie, and Exodus last night (why do I hear Tom's "I'm sorry" voice in my head?).

So, so dumb, but so, so entertaining!

I saw Ted Leo and The Pharmacists at a free show on Cincinnati's Fountain Square.  They were great, and he gave a shout out to Yetta!  His guitar pedal seemed to conk out a few times, but he said that he was going to buy a new one the next day w/ all of the sweet coin that they were making from the show.

The next night, Talib Kweli had a free show on Fountain Square.  Sadly, no Yetta rhymes were incorporated into the set (e.g. "nobody's betta", "loves to eat chedda", "allergic to Feta", "Leon Panetta", "pancetta", "bruschetta" ... and further jokes.)

Paul McCartney is playing at Great American Ball Park tonight, but tickets were a little steep.

Just found out we're getting Earth and Man...or Astro-man? in Memphis in the near future. That and the Swans show in Nashville next month have got me super excited.

Thinking about going to Nashville twice in September because Elvis Costello's doing the Spinning Songbook at the Ryman on the 25th. I've seen him five or six times, but I imagine this'll be a great show. Plus, Blood and Chocolate is my favorite E.C. record, and this tour is like the one he did for that album.

Next week, I'm djing between two bands I couldn't care less about, but couldn't resist taking the gig: Nashville Pussy & Reverend Horton Heat. Guess I'll have to bust out the brylcream and gas station jacket to go with the Vince Ray poster.

I watched the pride of Philly, Matador recording artist and friend of the show Kurt Vile playing and singing his greatest hits to a huge, responsive outdoor crowd in Malmö tonight. Then I watched Swedish legends Bob Hund.

A few weeks ago I saw Prince in Dublin. If anyone heard that episode of the PFT's podcast where he discusses going to a Prince show you'll know how good this was.

I got my ticket two weeks ago and the show sold out right after. The show was supposed to be last night, but was postponed (for obvious reasons) thankfully (instead of outright cancelled) until the end of September.

This week is a projected W with Meg Baird opening for Thurston Moore tonight then free Deer Tick on Friday and free Dr. Dog and Justin Townes Earle on Saturday.

I just read that Ray Davies is coming in November. It seems like he's one of the few greats that isn't afraid to play his old songs.

Meg Baird is great, but if Thurston's set is anything like what he did at Pitchfork fest this summer, you'll have a nice nap.

I saw Eddie Money play last Friday, he's not afraid to play the old songs either. Also he plays his own saxophone, which I thought was very classy.
