Plus the old one had the outdated lyric referencing the showtime.

This needs fixing on the Best Show Gems podcast intro.......

Also: New theme rules.
"You know it's like, if you had a choice between 4 slobs dressed as lumberjacks and 4 shirtless good looking guys in tight black jeans and high-top leather sneakers, who would you choose?"

When I heard it the first time, I backed it up to hear it again.  Because it's that good.  No slight on the old one, at all.  But this isn't some New Coke or Crystal Pepsi situation, where they ruined something that was perfectly fine.

It's turned into my second favorite theme song, after SCTV.  Which has been my favorite theme song since I was a child.  It's hard to push out sense memories like that.
Sometimes I say stuff here.

I thought maybe saying this would mean nothing because I usually become obsessed with EVERY theme song to the shows  watch, whether they are good or bad. But I considered that I have probably heard this theme and other Best Show themes over 300 times each and continue to love it and thrill to the sound of it and what it means is coming. Talk about some strong pieces of music!

plus it's just new we'll al get used to it. i remember the transition being jarring when they updated the fanfare at the beginning of the show. now i can't think of it ever being different

I always get a little kick out of hearing "Tom Scharpling's givin' birth to smiles."  It's such a goofy line, it might almost be cringeworthy from a different singer, but Mr. Paycheque sings it with such passion and conviction.

(If history is any guide, someone will now tell me that I've been mishearing the lyric for years and that's not what he says at all.)

that line is so good because its a totally obscure reference to something one the best show myspace page it's one of those esoteric best show references that excites me so much then makes me feel like a total psycho for getting it.

The new theme pulled out my still-beating heart and showed it to me.

Does anyone have an answer to my question? I don't have all goddamn day, people.

You're not familiar with "The Cowsills"?

I always thought it was "Tom Scharpling's giving mirth a smile." I like yours better.

I always thought it was "Tom Scharpling's giving Burt's the smiles."  He's making Burt Reynolds smile.

Thank you! I've been sitting here refreshing this page for the last 24 hours and it was starting to get old.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

A serious question: does the Paycheque family perform under another name? Because I want more of their music.

As stated above, check out the Fortunate Sons for a more of Mr.Paycheque's tuneage? And Mrs.PC has quite a few musical projects as well. I'm just so stoked I got to do backups on the new one!!
