Also going back to the egyptian caller, anytime he mentioned "sliding his ass out of there" and Toms "ugghh"

Yeh but the caller insisted he drummed while singing. Tom  plays the song and there is really fast drumming with him singing over it and Tom calls shenanigans.

Tom quitting at the close of last night's show after the second Orson Welles/Colonel Kurtz suggestion had me in stitches. It was the way he kept his cool whilst running through the litany of horrors he's endured.
