I saw God Bless America at the Toronto Film Fest last year and I was disappointed. It's very well made but I didn't find it funny, and the satirical targets are blindingly obvious. But on the other hand it's clearly heartfelt and personal, and I got to see the Bobcat Q&A. He's a cool guy.

I should say that I have a feeling I'm in the minority on this one -- it very well could be Goldthwait's breakout as a director.

Nah, I didn't like it either (despite the cool trailer).  The writing wasn't always up to the task, and many elements seemed dated already.

I enjoyed Bobcat's Windy City Heat though.  It's an elaborate prank on a buffoon for the twisted enjoyment of others ... sort of like William Hung I guess.   :D

It seems like the kind of thing where the satire will only last the first thirty minutes or so, you know what I mean? I can see it just being about the characters as the film goes on, for better or for worse.

The script contains far too much witless Robert ranting via the mouths of the two leads,  but Joel Murray (sadly, there are no Freddy Rumsen-style zipper symphonies) and Tara Lynne Barr are both excellent.  Robert continues to evolve as a visual filmmaker at a shockingly rapid rate.  This bodes well for his adaptation of The Kinks's Schoolboys In Disgrace.

I saw this last night and I agree with this. In the end, I do come down on the side of liking the movie, but several of the monologues/diatribes (most specifically Murray talking to his co-worker and Barr's Alice Cooper thing) seem more like Goldthwait yelling through their mouths than things an actual person would say. I'd be interested to see how I felt about the movie if I didn't pretty much agree with everything he's saying.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

NOT looking forward to Argento's "Dracula 3D". "Cellmates" looks terrible, but I haven't even watched the preview, so maybe I'm wrong.

It's certainly visually more interesting than the other two but yeah, underwhelming otherwise. World's Greatest Dad though..

Andrew Dice Clay and Woody Allen ...

http://www.avclub.com/articles/louis-ck-and-andrew-dice-clay-are-going-to-be-in-w,79714/

For real, I guess. This news comes out on the same day as the new "Comedy Bang Bang" episode, which has Heidecker and Aukermann spinning out a ludicrous "Woody's shooting a movie in China" scenario.
