Michael Nesmith
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:16:30 AM »
I had a small fit of excitement when I heard about the interview with Nesmith that's gong to be on the 2012 premium. I can't wait for that. He's one of the best.

So I wanted to know what others think about Nesmith and the huge mark he's left on music in general. He is an country-rock pioneer with his Monkees tracks, then with the First National Band! Wow!

What are you favorite records? What do y'all think about Ian Matthew's Valley Hi and Bert Jansch's L.A. Turnaround?

Tom, FOT?

I will do all of my Nesmith talking in my EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with the man that I conducted last month FACE TO FACE. We talked for almost 90 minutes.

Where can you read this interview? It will be part of Best Show magazine #1, which is a part of my 2012 MARATHON PREMIUM!

You can get it by pledging to my show during the WFMU marathon on Feb 21st and 28th. And ONLY DURING MY SHOW!

Everything will be an ad for the next two weeks!

Tom.

The first three Michael Nesmith & the First National Band LPs are great.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

This makes me so happy! What a dream come true.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of EVERYTHING Nesmith worked on and produced? Wiki doesn't list the things he produced. The Ian Matthews and Bert Jansch records are two of my favorite things. I have all of his records but Nevada Fighter. I love it all.

Indeed.

And L.A. Turnaround is one of the best albums of the 70's.

But we can pledge to your show early through the WFMU site, right Tom?

You could give this a shot: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Michael+Nesmith. Additional credits, such as for production, are linked in the column on the left.

I didn't realize he lived here in S.F. so we're all trying to arrange a christmas carol at his place, if we can find out where he lives... you and I travel to the beat of a little different drummer boy...

I hope Tom asked him how exactly he managed to tip over the general's airplane. I've been dying to hear that story ever since he mentioned it in his screen test for the Monkees.
