The way Water's voice blends into the sax from The Gunner's Dream (at 2:10) is one of my favorite moments in recorded music.

I love this, too, and where the drums and guitar solo kick in on Fletcher Memorial Home and the guy laughing on the phone on Not Now, John.  I've never been sure where this one fits in the Floyd catalog, but it's undoubtedly a great quiet-to-loud album.

Maybe "the first Roger Waters solo album, featuring the drumming of Nick Mason and guest appearances by David 'Dave' Gilmour."
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

That's pretty much the way I've always viewed it ... "The Wall 2: the Early Years".

I think most consider it to be just that (a solo Waters album) and a companion to The Wall. Sure, it's "true" Pink Floyd only in name, but that doesn't detract from it being a great album.

Weirdly, I've been listening to this album since the late 80s and only recently did it occur to me what the cover art was depicting. I had always assumed it was just random shapes.

I always wondered if I was out there in appreciating both The Final Cut and A Momentary Lapse of Reason as about the best that the two eventual leaders of Pink Floyd could do as semi-solo acts (but with a full, real band behind them).

Not so The Division Bell (ugh!) or Roger Waters' later solo works or Wall retreads (Van Morrison - did you see those kicks?!).  But I rank those two in the list of good Pink Floyd Albums after They Became a Rock Band.

1. The Wall (although I'd cut it down to 3 sides and leave off "The Trial" and a couple of others)
2. Animals
3. Wish You Were Here (much sax here, too)
4. Dark Side of the Moon (how do you separate this album out from the nauseating frequency with which nearly all its songs are played on Classic Rock radio?)
5-6. A Momentary Lapse of Reason / The Final Cut (see there, Dave and Roger, play nicely together)
7. Meddle (still good!)

The Division Bell is just appalling.

I actually kind of like Obscured by Clouds, too, and it has some sort of rock numbers.  I would throw Relics in here, too, though it's not really an album.

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
