It's a new show on Cartoon Network (not Adult Swim). Tom is voicing Greg Universe, father of the title character.

There's a free episode and a (also free) sneak preview available on iTunes. I didn't see Tom's character in the free episode, but he makes a brief appearance in the sneak preview at 1:04, with the line "If all pork chops were perfect…"

The first two episodes aired last night and I really like the show. Tom's character Greg Universe played a major part in the second episode.

The episodes are available (for free) here: http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/steven-universe/video/episodes/index.html. I thought the whole thing was really good, but if you just want to watch Tom's part, Greg enters at around 15:00.

Some highlights (Spoiler alert):

"Who's there? I have a waffle iron!"
"I almost waffled your face."
"It was slow day at the car wash."
"I like to think of myself as someone who would golf, eventually."
A trademark "Ew boy" at 18:18.

I barely recognize his voice without the modulator.

Watched both episodes and really enjoyed them. Great artwork, non-obnoxious characters, and sweet moments without being cloying. Plus, my 6-year old daughter watched them and really enjoyed them, so it passed the kid test (and as a plus for me, non-crude humor, so I don't mind her watching it).

The moment at the end of the episode where Greg teared up and said "Rose..." has to be one of the saddest cartoon moments I've seen.

Everyone needs to click this. It's amazing.

So good. I'm going to go listen to it ten more times. Can't wait to hear some other songs from Greg Universe's CD!

Is it just me, or does Tom in the song at the link sound more like Tom from the show, compared to how the song sounded in the episode?

I agree! Not sure if this is a different version, or if it just sounds different due to the compression of audio/video from the cable provider.

Greg Universe was back last night, after being gone for a few weeks. Great episode!

Okay, a quick summary:

Tom plays Greg Universe the father of the shows main character Steven. Steven has magical powers given to him by his mother, Rose, who "gave up her physical form" (it has not yet been explained what they mean by this) so that they could have a child - Steven.. Greg is also a failed musician, though it was at one of his concerts where he met Rose. Greg often wonders why Rose chose someone like him. Steven does not live with Greg, he lives with the Crystal Gems, a group of powerful women who protect the world. In the series Greg owns a car wash, lives in a van, and keeps most of his belongings in a storage unit.

From what I've seen, or maybe I've been thinking about it too much, Greg is a complex character who, although he doesn't live with his son, cares about him deeply. He realizes that being with the Gems is ultimately what is best for Steven, accepts this fact, and is thinking about his sons future.  I'd reccomend this Tumblr post which made me think about this a lot.

I know this is an inactive/old thread but it really is a fantastic show. I began watching because of Tom but found myself watching the episodes he wasn't in and loving them just as much.
