Tom Sings!
« on: December 18, 2013, 02:51:45 PM »
A few Christmases ago, I released an audio archive of Tom singing songs live on the air. For easier listening, I put it up on SoundCloud. From "Wise Up" to "Celluloid Heroes," here's every spontaneous Scharpling song moment I could find back in 2010!

A covers album released in time for Mother's Day and/or the Christmas market - now that should be Tom Scharpling's next project.

Asterios, this is super cool.  Having never heard that Coheed and Cambria song (that I know of), I'd love to hear the same treatment for that excerpt that made it into the sound collage.

Incidentally, I also really enjoyed your recent appearance on JJGO.

Tom really does a great job with Under Pressure. That's a tough one. I called the show and complemented him.
Has he ever been a singer for a band?

this is excellent. is there an updated version? or a download-able one? i remember right before the 10 year anniversary of the show tom was singing "I Just Wasn't Meant For These Times" and some George Harrison songs. I think i've heard him do Nights on Broadway, too.

I'll gladly look for these but i wanted to make sure it hasn't been done already.

thanks!

I think the soundcloud post is encompassing 2010 specifically, but yeah Tom definitely did sing Nights on Broadway near the end of the WFMU Best Show era (2013), and yeah I'm pretty sure I remember him doin I Guess I Just Wasn't Made for These Times too.

Has he ever been a singer for a band?

was the band he had on the air with some kids who listened named 'Von Scharpling"? Pizza Party was their big song, i think.

They closed out the final show before Tom left for Sirius.

+1! That stretch of shows when Tom was singing "Wise Up" is one of my favorites :)
