Assorted Nostalgia
« on: December 27, 2013, 05:15:08 PM »
There's threads dedicated to favorite Wursterisms, favorite shows, etc., but how about just stray lines that don't really fit into any neat categories as such?  This, then, is the place for those.

I was inspired to start this thread when a friend on Facebook made a joke about the Xbox One that reminded me of Tom as Larry D. Perv talking about Videodrome and how much I loved "Long live the new flesh, dere."

Tyrone from South Carolina, the shaving advice guy. Maybe my favorite one-off caller in the history of the show.

My favorite one off caller has to be Terry from Woodstock who was dating the daughter of Jon Green, the guy who threw the beer at Ron Artest.

Tom's defense of William Zantzinger, the villain from the song Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, was always a personal favorite.

I listened to May 21 2002 a few days ago, a particularly strong episode: Daily Show Correspondent Matt Walsh Calls In To Promote His Television Special But Is Interrupted By A Pair Of Fans And Is Chastised By SNL's Horatio Sanz. Plus, The Return Of Mike Healy, And 'Smash Or Trash' With The Band 'Management'.

The matt walsh call is one of the best on the show (as his calls often were).

Chris L from Maryland's impression of Elvis Costello bringing Herbie Hancock on to his talkshow

Tom telling Petey to put some energy in to the call, then GOMPing him when he screams 'Yeah!!'

Does anybody have the new issue of Wizard?  Mike is getting his issue of Wizard from his bag.

From Feb 20, 2007 Bill Of Rights For Life, What Is The Meanest Thing Anyone Ever Said To You, Spike, Other Hilarity. Tom Just Talks And Talks And Talks!, Young August calls in with his Bill of Rights stating that road kill should be picked up immediately to which Tom agrees and relates information on how AP Mike likes to eat squirrels; specifically, AP Mike likes to eat their heads on sandwiches spread with ("and this is the weirdest part") pesto.

Perhaps Gary had a genuine gripe against Mike?

A lot of people like to eat squirrels on sandwiches spread with pesto. I don't think that could be the reason for the animosity. It has to be something else.
Ever do nothing and gain nothing from it?
Ever feel stupid and then know that you really are?
Ever think you're smart and then find out you aren't?
Ever play the fool and then find out that you're worse?

Sonny from Jersey City complaining about Al Pacino's goatee and wanting to send Chazz Palminteri to space.  He had the energy of a caller who was definitely gonna curse, without actually cursing!

Matt in Virginia suggesting Al Jolson was the father of rock music.

Mike from Brooklyn driving 120 through rural Indiana and his sister faking a conniption to unsuccessfully avoid a ticket.

Tom thinking Chris in Astoria's name was Christmas Tree.

The call and subsequent debate inspired by the beer in the shower guy.
