I could adjust to swearing, having no general aversion to it in life, but The Best Show is possibly one of those cases where constraints in that area, rather than having hindered it, have helped shape its tone and humour, inspiring a creativity with language that makes the show funnier.

Agreed to this. Working around FCC regulations brought us some of the funniest things the show has done.

Sounds like some bad stuff happened.  No idea what happened last night but I hope it all turns out ok:

"Not re-opening the can of worms from last night. But I had some real world bad shit happen and I'm trying to pick up the pieces. I don't really need any rah rah stuff right now. It's real world stuff - not health stuff thankfully - but enough that I have to figure out what the future of a lot of things will be. Trying to keep the dream alive but sometimes dreams are dreams because they don't come true."

What a horrible turn of events. There are things more important than The Best Show. I hope everything works out for someone who has given so much joy to so many people. Sometimes you get dealt a bad hand.

We always have the archives. Since this thing doesn't look like it's coming back, it might be time to get people to appreciate it after it's over, like the velvet underground.

The Best Show is merely one aspect of Tom's life.  As fans all we can do is show our support The Best Show and Tom.  I've went back to the archives, all the way back.  It is a different show, but funny, filled with great music, and great guests.

I want to make it abundantly clear that this is not a post to gossip. Many of you here legitimately care about Tom and are worried about what happened recently.

This is also stuff that has already been discussed in public. I don't know tom. I don't know people that know tom. The only reason I'm posting this here is because some of you won't know otherwise and might be really concerned.

The good news is that all this stuff has nothing to do with the stuff that truly matters, like health or family, whatever. The bad news is that all of the equipment that was going to be used to bring back the best show has been stolen.

That's the deal. All the progress made has been completely set back. There hasn't been any comments about if this is really the end or what. That's literally all anyone knows.

One last thing. According to tom, this isn't about money. So don't anyone go make a rouge Kickstarter page to get things back on track.

Here it is in a nutshell.

The house that I was hoping to do The Best Show out of - which has been a completely safe and secure place for ages - was broken into over the weekend. All the equipment I had for the show - which was not everything, but was a lot of stuff - got taken.

I am pretty dispirited right now. Trying to figure out where I'm gonna do the show from. Not sure whether I can trust this location anymore. So yeah, I'm back at square one. It really sucks and I'm mentally and physically exhausted from dealing with all this shitty stupidity.

But I'll be damned if I'm gonna let some shitty thief derail The Best Show. Fuck that. We might be back at square one but we'll just start over.

And this isn't an issue of money right now. So please - PLEASE! - nobody start anything to generate money. It won't make the show come back any faster. It's a question of security and safety and picking up the pieces. And don't worry; there will be plenty of chances to throw your money at Best Show 2014.

Thanks for all the kind words I've gotten. It lets me know that I'm doing the right thing by getting up off the mat and getting this thing back on track and any other cliches I can think of.

Onward and upward --

Tom.

Is it time to mobilize Scharpling's Army?
