Who's going to the SF Sketchfest S&W Tribute?
« on: January 06, 2015, 06:34:11 PM »
I just bought my tickets today and I am pumped, I had to go to Oakland that weekend for work anyway so I'm feeling pretty lucky that it happened to fall on that day!

I will be there. I think I already know all the answers to every S&W question but it's always fun to be in the same room as your heroes!

Anyone want to meet up for drinks somewhere nearby before the show?

There's a thread in the GOTF about it. I think the Hemlock Tavern is the candidate for now.

The show opened with clip from Rock Rot & Rule over the loudspeakers. Then the Themeweavers played the opening theme and introduced TV's Jon Daly. Jon Daly gave on overlong monologue quoting Rush songs, during which John Darnielle, Jon Wurster & Bob Mould came on stage and played "Bad Company" live to shut him down....

Then Tom & Jon were "interviewed" by  Daly...they told some great stories. John Darnielle & and Jon Wurster played two songs, then more interviews, then Bob Mould played two songs, there was an audience Q&A and finally the Themeweavers played the theme to end the evening.

Tom & Jon came out after the show and had a meet & greet, they were very approachable and friendly. It was a great night!

I wasn't there, but hearing that John, Jon, and Bob played "Bad Company" live is one of the greatest things I've ever heard.

what MostlyMeat said.  It was super fun and funny. I wish Jon and John Darnielle played something off Songs for Drella.
I missed the meet and greet (I don't think they announced it?) and was drinking beers with friends next door at the pub instead after the show. Doh!

The meet & greet wasn't announced, they just came out to the front of the stage a few minutes after it was over...Terre T was there too, it was a thrill to meet her as well. No sign of AP Mike though, sadly. Tom & Jon were thrilled that so many people turned up, especially since they were in direct competition with an Emo Phillips event.

It's funny, I *almost* bought tickets to the Emo Phillips without realizing it was the same night! I did manage to buy tickets to the Swans and Electric Wizard on the same night in April though *sigh*

It was maybe the best part of the whole night? The only downside was they didn't keep playing Bad Company songs.
