I'm guessing this was the source of the reference on the last S+W call... Disco's been trendy for the past decade or longer, but *of course* Nickelback would finally find out about it more than a decade later.

I grew up on disco, and clearly remember when Disco Sucks became law of the land (i.e. the U.S.) in 1980... there was a really horrible racist/homophobic air to the whole Disco Sucks thing, despite some reasonable opinions behind it - like record labels literally bankrupting themselves on releasing disco records instead of signing or releasing almost anything else -- and all the overexposure then.

i had a disco sucks sticker on my record player, I think it was a cartoon of travolta with an arrow through his head. And I was a fan of the Mad magazine record.  Sometime in the early 90s I started listening to a lot of Euro desco that's borderline space rock, that I really like though.  and I guess I like a lot more of the disco I hated as a kid since I'm not surrounded by it like I was in the 70s/early 80s

As an adult, I've never understood why people hated disco so much, except maybe because it was so tied to gay culture. I've been listening to a lot of Nile Rodgers lately, I love his Chic-type guitar style.

I haven't yet figured out how to get YouTube links to show up. Any suggestions for me? It's just a hyperlink, right?
