My name is Ben, I never post on here but I've listened to every episode so maybe that is worth something.  I do a lot of home recording and finally made an album I have enough faith in to self promote.  I'm inspired by too much music to make any direct comparisons but here 'tis.

I have lots of postcards to mail out to people that I promised postcards to (on FB), but I have extras.  Who wants to get a postcard in the mail?

Don't need a postcard. Just wanted to say hello; nice to see you on the board, again.

glad to be back.

Civilization (All You Can Eat) takes us back to that moment in time
when we thought maybe... just maybe... we could make a difference.
It’s 2008 and Obama’s candidacy inspires a wave of optimism in the
face of the looming financial tsunami. Playwright Jason Grote launches
seven characters into these roiling cross-currents: A struggling
waitress and her would-be porn star daughter, a corporate self-help
guru and his commercial director wife, an unhappily successful actor,
a professional narcissist and a factory farm hog determined to prove
he’s a better animal than you.

Who will sink? Who will swim? Who will reach the American Dream: All
you can eat?

I stopped performing comedy but I found the only two times on YouTube where I'm somewhat okay on the stage. Both take place in my friend Johnny's backyard. He used to have backyard comedy shows -- very much a punk basement show vibe.

This first one is off the cuff. I used to ride a gypsy van to New York from my parents' house in Jersey. Pretty proud of this since it was spur of the moment. (You can read the full details of my Vanpool adventures at www.thevanpool.com.)

This second one is decent, too. I was performing for a long time as The Greggulator (duh) and it was pretty conceptual. I believed myself to be a world famous stand-up comic but, uhm, of course I wasn't.

Our own Matt from Bloomington, host of the Bloomington Best Show Listening Party, was featured in today's Indiana Daily Student newspaper.

Store celebrates comics, Halloween
Quote
Many comic book stores have adapted to celebrate Halloween ComicFest during the last few years.

Comic book stores across the country are featuring their own rendition of the event, including Bloomington’s Vintage Phoenix Comic Books.

Halloweek, being put on through today, is a promotion by Vintage Phoenix offering a variety of discounts and giveaways.

Customers who dress up in costumes will receive free comic books from a selection of 20 different Halloween-themed books.

In addition, the store is also organizing a costume contest in which contestants will have their photo uploaded to the store’s Facebook page for people to view and vote on.

There will be a raffle, and the prize will be a giant wooden cutout of the winner’s favorite character.

Store Manager Matt Traughber said costumes have been creative this year, with customers going the extra step to dress up as more than just the usual superhero.

Costumes so far have included Iron Man’s Anthony Stark and Dr. Bruce Banner from The Avengers, Traughber said.

“This is a newer and smaller event,” Traughber said. “Right now it’s aimed more at our current existing customers, but we expect it to grow year after year.”

Other events the store organizes throughout the year include in-store signings.

The store’s most recent signing was in September, featuring Eisner Award-winning writer and illustrator Nate Powell.

Powell discussed his new book trilogy, MARCH, which he co-created with American civil rights icon and Georgia Congressman John Lewis.

The store’s largest event is in conjunction with comic book stores across the country, similar to Halloween ComicFest, called Free Comic Book Day.

Every year on the first Saturday in May, Vintage Phoenix customers are eligible to receive pre-selected free comic books just for walking into the store.

Traughber said promotions like Halloween ComicFest and Free Comic Book Day help expand the store’s customer base over time.

The events also draw in new people who might not be as familiar with comics or realize the wide variety of graphics that exist.

“We’ve got something for everybody here,” Traughber said. “Some people still think comics are one specific thing or that they’re only for kids or people into superheroes, but like anything in entertainment there’s something for everybody.”

That's cool. He's also a very talented artist judging by his listening party flyer.

Hmmmm. Is this thread still a thing? If so, I wanted to share that ever since having to sell my soul to reality tv (I work in post), my only real acting and writing outlet is the Fish In A Sweater project I've been doing with my buddies for near a decade now. We released our latest as a Facebook only release today, and would love some FOT love if anyone's so inclined.

I review comics every week for Newsarama's Best Shots column. You can go there every week and tell me how wrong I am about comics like every other commenter does. http://www.newsarama.com/

I'm also on Twitter at @NewishUniversal where I babble about wrestling and the video games I'm playing at the time

Can you review Hi and Lois? It's ripe for a re-appraisal.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
