Seriously, the only thing this picture is missing is his Nikes.

Not having heard the show yet, this is all wonderfully bewildering.

Finally, the truth comes out about the real life inspiration for all five National Lampoon's Vacation movies. I want to meet that dad!

He is one of those great stories that make me enjoy sports. He is insane. MASTERFULLY. And I think about 45% titanium by this point.

Yeah, seriously.  haha

Oh man, I loved this story.  It is all very RL Clark Griswold, it's true.

Why is Mom still in her pajamas?

Is anyone else experiencing retina strain from all that stone washed denim?

Good catch, B_B.  The answer: she was roused out of bed by her husband!  "NO!!  We need to go NOW!  The kids are already dressed!  Let's do this!"  What an incredible image.

"What a great group," obviously.

Or, as a somewhat longer shot, "Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe! Joe!"

My mom is mortified by those pants.  We are all horrified by that pic.  One of my favorite parts is Joe Paterno's awkward arm reach around my little brother in the front.

I'm pretty sure I had a denim jacket exactly like your little brother's.

Help, I'm being oppressed.

You're not being oppressed, Trembling Eagle. But I don't feel like turning this into some thread where we're going to discuss the personal appearance of someone who was gracious enough to allow this picture to be posted here.

Since you're so gung ho on talking about how I look and how she might look as an adult, when are we going to see the pictures of you?

Tom.

Yes!  And his left hand is making a weird claw-like gesture.  And why is he titling to the left?  Wind?  Uneven legs?

Because he's old..

And yes this is one of the funniest things I've heard/seen in a while.

Nary a living room in my part of Pennsylvania that doesn't have a similar JoePa pic on the mantle.  He just acts like it's a hassle for him.

Couldn't even bother to give that kid's shoulder an open-handed cup, JoePa? What's with the crumpled, failed judo-chop half-fist? And just for the heck of it: Hoggle.

This is one of the worst stories to come out in years.  Of course, Paterno did attend Newt Gingrich's birthday party in 1995.

Best new fact from this article:

"The local district attorney, who for unknown reasons decided not to press charges, disappeared in 2005 and was declared legally dead in July."

Oh, man, I laughed really hard at this. You know he totally did this just so he could hide behind a nearby gravestone with a fedora pulled down low, listening to everything his friends said about him at the funeral.
