Mine is horrifying, as many will be; Sheb Wooley - Purple People Eater
-
This is a handy little site (http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm) to find out which song was number one on the Billboard charts on any given day.
The number one song on my birthday was 'Magic' by Olivia Newton-John from Xanadu. I would have preferred a song written by ELO from that soundtrack, but I'll take it.
-
Shadow Dancing by Andy Gibb.
-
The Crickets, "That'll Be the Day."
-
Bread "I'd Like to Make it With You".
-
Da Ya Think I'm Sexy
-
Club Noveau, "Lean on Me"
-
Love's Theme, Love Unlimited Orchestra
-
Duran Duran-"The Reflex"
-
Justify My Love - Madonna
-
"The Long and Winding Road/ For You Blue"
The Beatles
I'M WINNING!!! NYEH! NYEH!! NYEH!! NYEH!!
-
"Honey", by Bobby Goldsboro.
I pretty much knew everybody else's songs, this one I don't know. Going to youTube now to give it a listen.
... eww boy. That's some maudlin stuff.
-
Blondie - Call Me
-
The Emotions, "The Best of My Love". Basically my life started pretty much the same way as "Boogie Nights" but things diverged drastically from there.
-
My Eyes Adored You by Frankie Valli
-
Tonight's the Night - Rod Stewart
-
Diana Ross, Theme from 'Mahogany' (Do You Know Where You're Going To)
-
can't find it for my country
:(
-
Michael Jackson "Rock With You"
-
Rapture - Blondie
-
Olivia Newton John- Magic
-
Rapture - Blondie
I think we have a winner.
Mine was Whitney Houston - Didn't We Almost Have it All
-
"The Long and Winding Road/ For You Blue"
The Beatles
I'M WINNING!!! NYEH! NYEH!! NYEH!! NYEH!!
Kind of a cocky attitude for one of the weaker Beatles singles. But anyway your reign is over. "Rock With You" is probably better.
-
"December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" by the Four Seasons
/have fun getting that song out of your head
-
The Eagles - New Kid in Town
-
Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor
I had to look up the song. Ehh... kind of a depressing way to start life.
-
"The Long and Winding Road/ For You Blue"
The Beatles

You're just bitter you had Shadow Dancing. And, yes, I have conceded the crown. I think it's Rapture.
-
I would have said either Sarah or Emma are winning.
-
The Beatles - Hello Goodbye
-
Myself: Bee Gees "Night Fever"
(Bee Gees basically ruled '78. More entertaining, in my opinion are the ones that follow)
My lady friend: Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes "Up Where We Belong"
My older brother: The Captain and Tennille "Love Will Keep Us Together"
My younger brother: Rupert Holmes "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)"
We're all winners, really. The important thing is that we play the game.
(Edited to add Dave From Knoxville's 13th birthday piece:
Me: Gloria Estefan "Coming Out of the Dark"
Lady friend: Mariah Carey "Fantasy"
Older brother: Debbie Gibson "Foolish Beat"
Younger brother: Whitney Houston "I Will Always Love You"
Lesson learned - The late 80s and early 90s were run by middle of the road female singers.)
-
My wife's is much better: "I'm a Believer" by the Monkees
-
The Doobie Brothers - Black Water :-X
-
Rock Me Gently by Andy Kim
Classic synth break in that one!
-
OK, now how about the day you became a teenager; your thirteenth birthday.
Mine's Carole King, a double single, I Feel the Earth Move and It's Too Late
-
My 13th birthday is Say My Name by Destiny's Child.
-
Date of birth:
Do Wah Diddy Diddy Manfred Mann
Thirteenth birthday:
You Light Up My Life Debby Boone
-
Thirteenth birthday (I'm almost afraid to type this lest someone post that horrifying youtube thing):
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
-
That Rick Astley/Nirvana mashup is great.
-
I think I win for worst 13th birthday song:
Opposites Attract - Paula Abdul with The Wild Pair
-
1987 Feb 9, 13 years old - Livin' on a Prayer, Bon Jovi
-
Thirteenth birthday: Diana Ross, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough."
Boy, am I glad I wasn't born a year earlier: my thirteenth-birthday song would have been the Archies' "Sugar, Sugar," a song that has made my skin crawl since the moment I first heard it.
-
Boy, am I glad I wasn't born a year earlier: my thirteenth-birthday song would have been the Archies' "Sugar, Sugar," a song that has made my skin crawl since the moment I first heard it.
I unironically love that song.
-
Oobden gleebden rocken rollen.
-
You Don't Bring Me Flowers - Barbara Streisand & Neil Diamond
Two for the price of one special!
-
So as I stated earlier, the #1 song when I was born was "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart. I just discovered the #1 song when I turned thirteen was "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred. I'm starting to think I missed one hell of a calling.
-
I've never even heard of mine: I Knew You Were Waiting (for Me) by Aretha Franklin and George Michael. Just that pairing alone gives me the creeps, and makes me think my birth was the introduction of a great evil into the world.
-
Boy, am I glad I wasn't born a year earlier: my thirteenth-birthday song would have been the Archies' "Sugar, Sugar," a song that has made my skin crawl since the moment I first heard it.
I unironically love that song.
I'm a Bang-Shang-a-Lang man. Plus, I liked the Archies!
-
BIRTH:
"The Long and Winding Road/ For You Blue"
The Beatles
13: Flashdance ... What a Feeling.
I remember I really, really liked that video at 13.
-
When I was 13: Madonna - Music
I might have just lost.
-
My thirteenth birthday:
In Da Club by 50 Cent
Totally describes my life at that time.
-
Boy, am I glad I wasn't born a year earlier: my thirteenth-birthday song would have been the Archies' "Sugar, Sugar," a song that has made my skin crawl since the moment I first heard it.
I unironically love that song.
I find it repellent. At twelve, when it was released, I remember shrieking and having to plug my ears when it came on the radio. There was just something about it that disgusted me. I haven't heard it in years. Probably my reaction to it now would be less violent, but I have no doubt it would be negative.
-
When I turned thirteen, the number one song was "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. That song does not exactly sum up my teenage experience.
-
Me:
Birth : Down By the Lazy River by the Osmonds (A Horse with No Name by America in USA)
13: Neutron Dance by the Pointer Sisters (Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon in USA)
My wife's:
Birth: Troglodyte by Jimmy Castor (Lean on Me by Bill Withers in USA)
13: Everything She Wants by Wham! (A View to a Kill by Duran Duran in USA)
Wow.
-
Black Velvet by Allanah Myles was #1 on my birthday. On my 13th it was In Da Club. I don't know either song.
-

Jingle Jangle is an awesome song.
13th- UB40: Can't Help Falling in Love
-
Black Velvet by Allanah Myles was #1 on my birthday. On my 13th it was In Da Club. I don't know either song.
I saw Ms. Myles live in concert as the opening night for Bob Plant.
-
Let's Hear It For The Boy
...kinda fitting, actually
-
birth: "That's the Way (I Like It)" - K.C. & the Sunshine Band
13th: "Bad Medicine" - Bon Jovi
and for shees and gees...
21st: "No Diggity" - BLACKstreet featuring Dr. Dre
-
Ha! When I was born: "(You're) Having My Baby" by Paul Anka with Odia Coates.
13: "La Bamba" by Los Lobos.
-
Born: "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler
Teen: "Macarena [Bayside Boys Mix]" Los Del Rio
Fun fact: when i was a teenager I hated music. I wonder why?
-
Whew... I had a sinking feeling that it was going to be "The Ballad of the Green Berets" by Sgt. Barry Sadler, but fortunately, it was "Judy in Disguise (with Glasses)" by John Fred & His Playboy Band.
-
Fun fact: when i was a teenager I hated music. I wonder why?
During a few years that I was a teenager, I hated movies. What was I thinking?!?

you're both nuts.
Born: "Billie Jean" (Michael Jackson)
Thirteen: "Because You Loved Me" (Celine Dion)
-
'Bridge Over Troubled Water'. I like that. It's certainly much better than 'Playground in My Mind' or 'Heartbeat it's a Lovebeat'.
-
OK, mine was incomplete:
13 - Billie Jean, MJ
My wife's bday: Heard it thru the Grapevine, Marvin Gaye
13th- Physical - Olivia Newton-John
-
"Best of My Love" by The Eagles. Eww Boy
"Father Figure" by George Michael to enter my teen years.
-
"My Sweet Lord," George Harrison. My wife is "Sugar, Sugar," and I also love that song.
13: "Maneater," by Hall & Oates for me, "Jack & Diane," by John Cougar for my wife. I think I win that one, especially because that song for her is like "Sugar, Sugar" for Sarah (she's from rural Indiana).
How about 30, for us old farts?
Me: "Independent Women Part One," Destiny's Child. I don't even know that song. For my wife, "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey, featuring Jay-Z. I don't know that song either, but it's got Jay-Z in it, so she wins that one.
-
13: Everything I Do (I Do It For You)--Bryan Adams
30: I Kissed a Girl--Katy Perry
-
Born: Phil Collins - "Another Day In Paradise"
13th: Eminem - "Lose Yourself"
Ha, I did listen to Eminem when I was 13. Yikes. And I do love me some Phil Collins.
-
13: Everything I Do (I Do It For You)--Bryan Adams
30: I Kissed a Girl--Katy Perry
Well, look at that ...
Born: "Miss You" - The Rolling Stone
13: "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" - Bryan Adams
30: "I Kissed A Girl" - Katy Perry
I've still never heard that Katy Perry song.

Cool stuff! But I'll take Andy Gibbs--Shadow Dancing over anything the Stones have ever done any day.
ps: I don't know what "take" means. Is it like "condemn"?

I take it you're a 31-year-old Leo?
No way - I now like to think that "Miss You" was in my mom's head when I was born! Apparently it was a fairly effortless, rapid experience unlike her other 2 birthing throwdowns. The groove pushed me out and I didn't even cry all that much. I knew ... somehow I knew ....
-
Cancer.
-
30: Candy Shop by 50 Cent featuring Olivia
I have never heard of this song.
-
Cancer.
Not a joking matter YEN/NO
-
Bread "I'd Like to Make it With You".
13 was "Every Breath You Take"
30 was "Incomplete" by Sisqo. I had to go listen to this on the crazy iTunes because I had no idea what it was. And after listening to a sample, I still don't.
-
for the record, everyone thirty and up- YOURE NOT OLD. except, fredericks...you are old.
*just busting your chops, fonpr.

Born: Phil Collins - "Another Day In Paradise"
13th: Eminem - "Lose Yourself"
Ha, I did listen to Eminem when I was 13. Yikes. And I do love me some Phil Collins.
Geez, it feels like it was only last year that Eminem song was out.
I AM old.
For me: 30: I knew I loved you by Savage Garden.
I know absolutely nothing about that song.
Actually the most recent song on that list I can remember is 1998 ('My Heart Will Go On')
-
Cancer.
Not a joking matter YEN/NO
What's worse than finding a worm in your apple?
Getting cancer and dying of it. Also the holocaust.
-
13th birthday:
"Kiss on My List", by John Oates (and his sidekick, Daryl Hall).
21st birthday:
"She Drives me Crazy", Fine Young Cannibals. I actually had a cassette tape of FYC's debut album, which was kinda retro and had no electronic instrumentation. All that changed by the time "She Drives me Crazy" was released.

30th birthday: Cheap Trick - The Flame

I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston...
-
30th b-day: Nelly Furtado - Say It Right
That can't be good.
-
I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston...
Wasn't this number one for like 2 or 3 decades? Maybe that's what it felt like.
Same as Every Breath You Take, which was number one when I turned 13. Shit, I liked the Police then & that song made me sick.
-
That video with the dude playing drums on the ashtray was pretty arty though, you must admit.

you'll have to guess the artist, sorry.
-
Born: Love You Inside and Out - The Bee Gees (could do a lot worse than this)
Thirteen: Jump Jump - Kriss Kross (I don't know what I did to deserve this)

Mr. Richie & Miss Ross provided "Endless Love" for my 13th.
"Hey Jude" was the first #1 for me.

i am curious, why does no one put their age on their profiles? (as we are approximating ages with #1 songs)
-
Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.
:)
-
M-M-M-My Sharona
-
Ugh!
Genesis - Invisible Touch.
Wow, July of 1986 REALLY had some bad music going on.
-
Kim Carnes — "Bette Davis Eyes." It's 1981, so it could've been a lot worse.
-
i am curious, why does no one put their age on their profiles? (as we are approximating ages with #1 songs)
It would ruin the mystique.
Besides, don't most people put very little in their profiles?

ISN'T IT?
-
The Black Eyed Peas

ISN'T IT?
It already feels like 15 years.
This is terrible but pre-election last year I was trying to brace myself for a McCain victory by thinking of what was the good side. All I could come up with was 'maybe will.i.am will go away'.

They might be getting a second wind after that Perez Hilton/Fergie Boom Boom Pow incident.
My favorite (if you could call it favorite) part of the Kerry concession speech was when he said "spanks to all of you." My best friend, another FOT, and I laughed and laughed. Then cried for four more years.

Is it sad that I already knew this without having to check a site?
Lionel Richie's "Hello"
-
"Family Affair" by Sly & The Family Stone
-
"How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" by Michael Bolton
:-[

A truly hideous instrumental.

Telstar?

Is it sad that I already knew this without having to check a site?
I knew mine without checking the site. But it's because I checked the chart previously before it was popular. Now, if you just know the number 1 songs week by week, that is a different story. Even so, neither way would make it sad.
-
A truly hideous instrumental.
Telstar?
Way worse!
Was Telstar a #1?
-
Love You Inside & Out - The Bee Gees (I can't believe this one was a chart-topper!) - US
Sunday Girl - Blondie (That's a little better!) UK
I am totally old. :-[
-
"Black Velvet" Alannah Myles. What does this say about me? Well, considering it's about Elvis, not much.
-

Telstar?

I doubt it. Should have been, tho.

Why did I do that?
I don't know. Why? Fredericks.
Is this like astrology or something?
