Local Shows
« on: March 04, 2016, 05:48:17 PM »
I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this idea, but I was thinking of trying to get a local show topic in the FOT community.  It would be a place to let people know of cool shows that are going on all around the country.  I think it might be fun and give me an opportunity to see stuff I normally wouldn't because of FOT recommendations. And stuff to see if I'm ever in a different city.

Like tonight.  I'm going to see Titus Andronicus and Craig Finn tonight at the 40watt in Athens, GA.  I should be a great show.  Heads up to the folks in the Southeast.

Flaming Groovies were amazing. Roy Loney got onstage and did some classics with them which was AWESOME. Peter Case opened as did Roy Loney and the Phantom Movers....man, what a great night

Thanks y'all for introducing me to the Flamin' Groovies.  That's some good stuff.  If they ever make it out to Atlanta I'll have to check them out.

Alternately we've have this show to look forward to. https://www.facebook.com/events/1594266890864343/

John Carpenter's Los Angeles show on 6/18 at the Orpheum Theater...If I don't see 3+ dudes cosplaying as Snake Pliskken to varying success I will be highly disappointed.

(PS: Hello fellow FOTs! Fairly recent Best Show convert here. Been getting involved a bit Tuesdays on Twitter so far and really enjoying the show/community)

Just saw a show this weekend from another band I've never heard of.  Pylon.  They're great but are no more.  There are rumors of them getting back together. They had a record release party and Love Tractor and Swimming Pool Q's played.

I bought an album for the digital release.  I don't own a record player and don't really want to.  If you'd like the album PM me. Looks like it's a double album. It's called Pylon Live. I figured I'd give it to an FOTer -- No Chaaaahge

Recorded December 1, 1983 at The Mad Hatter in Athens, Georgia.
Released by Chunklet

REM did a cover of Crazy on Dead Letter Office. Those Athens bands.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

In New York this fall there are two shows I'm excited for, Mayo Thomas and Rhys Chatham w/ Oneida. Anyone else going?
