There's a story I wrote a kajillion years ago up on www.cellstories.net! It would be nice if you read it, but I am not trying to pressure you guys or anything.

You can only read it if you have a fancy mobile internet-type device, though, which I do not, so I am just assuming it's up there. They might just be fucking with me.

It also works through an emulator, like this: http://iphonetester.com/

This is not my extra-curricular activity, but rather my wife's - Tricia from Maplewood - who has been a FOT-by-proxy since 2005.

Anyway, she has been busting her butt for two years assistant curating this show at the Newark Museum.  It opens tomorrow, and it is going to be gorgeous.

It turns out that North America and Europe were not the sole generators of geometric abstraction.  South America was creating amazing works in parallel with the U.S. Also, much of it was influenced by the crafts of indigenous peoples on the two continents, giving it a rather unified look and feel.

Here's the promotional clip.  Tricia in the clip is my wife!  She rocks, and she's put together a great show for you.

Why does South America come first?

That's racist.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Congrats to your wife! That looks like an awesome show, and good to see many of those artists getting proper respect, especially since a lot of the work is getting lost (http://greg.org/archive/2009/10/18/fire_destroys_90_of_helio_oiticicas_work.html) or, in the case of Torres, sitting in a museum in Montevideo that no one goes to.

That does look like a great show!  I might try to check it out before it closes.  I guess you were already at the opening, but if there's any time the From Maplewoods will be there, let us know.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

The opening is tonight. And of course we will be there.

But I think we will be there at least once every weekend for the next month or so...

Stop on by, Jason!

Awesome, thanks!  I'm a big fan of the Liz Lerman guidelines, and use a modified version of them in my screenwriting class at Rutgers.

So, I am not going to be able to use 1001 for this because it's for an audience at the TYA conference. I'm actually creating something that can be workshopped for this specific project. I still want someday to direct 1001, though. Hope your reading went well!

Yeah, 1001 is many things, but family-friendly isn't one of them.  You'll have your chance, though!  Maybe at a college?  The rights are cheap!

Jason Grote creates some fun bits with improvisers, David Rees does some fun stuff, Reggie Watts makes awesome, and much more. $15 and you get to see the Tim Burton exhibition and drink free absinthe and wine.

Hey if anyone feels like some new music, one of my bands just put up not only our pretty-stellar-if-I-say-so-myself record (On Pyramid), but all of our records for FREE download here:

http://satinwhat.bandcamp.com

Feel free to let me know what you think should you go there and download.

Thanks!

Oh, I suppose I should add it's for fans of music, particularly people who maybe dig Medicine, My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver ... stuff like that.

I've been a blogging fool recently.  It's sort of my job.  But at least I have a picture up without that dumb smirk.

I'd resisted doing this, but ah, what the hell.

If you're interested, I've recently done some interviews similar to my interview with Tom at Marvel.com:

Bill Corbett (MST3K, RiffTrax): http://marvel.com/news/comicstories.10669.famous_fanboys~colon~_bill_corbett_pt~dot~_1

Elliott Kalan (The Daily Show):

Hope you like 'em!

Hey all you NYC area FOT, my band the Waylons is playing at Southpaw in Brooklyn this Friday night. We're opening for Chuck Prophet (ex-Green on Red and a pretty awesome solo artist). It's an early show (Waylons at 7:30, Chuck at 8:30) so come out and start your evening with us!

Here's our myspace for your listening pleasure:
www.myspace.com/thewaylons

Despite our name, we're not a country band...
