I went to the Gophers game yesterday with some tickets from work, first football game I've attended since college 10 years ago. Football is a tough game to watch live because there's so much stoppage in play. I can't believe people pay good money for tickets. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty fun to watch on tv, but it really is a TV sport.

I think that's what American's don't get about soccer. When you see it live in a big stadium the time just flies by.

Hah! The basic mechanism is the same, although this year for fun there is a margin of victory component (last year's was just a spelling bee mechanism) and the range of ratings reflects the 10th and 90th percentile of points scored per team this year. In other words, my bottom team is a 7, the 10th percentile of all individual scores this season, and the top team is a 51. As games against Div II teams dry up (thank God) I expect that upper number to drop a bit as the season progresses.

I'm now actively rooting against the team that I was raised to love.  We need some major shake ups and I'm afraid winning 9 games a year isn't bad enough to make them happen.
