Was there a sequel to Wings of Desire? (not that LA remake w/ Elvis' former-son-in-law).

I pulled myself out of my depression and googled it:

Far Away So Close.

Chris, with Makavejev, start with Sweet Movie and WR: Mysteries of the Organism. Maybe that'll be enough for you. Makavejev is definitely not for everyone and if you care not to explore his other work at least then you've seen his most important films. (I think they're of-the-times masterpieces.)

Ah, I've heard of those titles but didn't realize they were by the same director.   Frankly, he doesn't seem like my cup of crazy.

Martin, I'll give you the Peter Falk cameo, but c'mon that trenchcoated angel who feels sooooo much.  It made by ovaries hurt, and I'm a dude.

No, munch, I didn't find a striped shirt in a dumpster. I found a white shirt that I then painted stripes on. Get your facts right.

Ha! That was hilarious.

And Wings of Desire is good, dammit. 'Sappy' and 'sentimental' are HORRIBLE adjectives to describe that film. Forrest Gump is 'sappy' and 'sentimental'. Wings of Desire is 'Elegant' and 'poetic'.

But then again, that is subjective. Y'all still made me laugh though.

I made the mistake of going into B&N and just grabbing things and before I knew it I was buying 9 movies.  At least they're some of my favorites.

When I go to the used bookstore, I buy any book that has a penguin on it. Is that the same deal? I mean, I am assuming you don't watch these DVDs just like I don't read the books, right?

Only other things I've gotten so far are UGETSU and the single-disc MONTEREY POP (but only for the Armond White essay  ;)).   I noticed B&N.com didn't mark down the Carl Dreyer box, much to the consternation of tweens and young adults everywhere.

You're not wrong, Dave.

I went to B&N yesterday - twice! - and picked up EUROPA, THREE FILMS BY HIROSHI TESHIGAHARA and THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH on Blu-Ray. I'll try to abstain from further trips until REPULSION comes out later this month.
