When I moved into my house I kept getting all this Mensa mail for the previous owner. I'm not trying to knock any Mensaniacs that happen to be FOT...but it kinda seemed like a pyramid scheme for little geniuses.

I don't know if the previous owners were geniuses or not but I can confirm they were shameless nudists.

When I discovered my 9th grad physics teacher was in Mensa I vowed to never join.  And I kept that vow.



Which, honestly, was pretty easy.  I suppose they're harmless, but I sort of think of Mensa and big-L Libertarians in the same sense.  We have some things in common, but they take themselves way too seriously and they want you to hew a little too close to whatever bizarre line they are walking.

I know a lot of geniuses because a lot of smart people are in my field. There is a huge difference between the geniuses in Mensa and the geniuses with social skills. Based on my experience (n=2), a good brain teaser for Mensa members would be solving the puzzle of what "Get the eff out of my office because I'm working and this has nothing to do with you" means. (hint for any Mensa members reading this: it doesn't mean stand in my doorway and make bad puns until I want to commit felonious assault.) Other geniuses I know can pick up subtle clues like that with no problem.
But maybe you shouldn't listen to me about this because I'm really jealous. I'd trade my sparkling personality for 30 more IQ points any day.
