The guy who wants Tom off the air
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:28:10 AM »
The guy who called at the end of last night's show, the one who said he wanted his pledge earmarked to taking Tom off the air - Is it just me, or did he sound a lot like Brian the triple-GOMP'd hypnotist (the one whose first GOMP was played at the end of the music set that opened last night's show)?

Is someone holding a grudge?
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

He reminded me of the first caller when Tom filled in for an hour on Saturday June 2nd 2007.

There does seem to be a certain demographic of middle-aged white males who do not like Tom.

They are weird.

Tom appeals more to the man-hating feminist crowd that Spike identified.

His name is Ross. It's not easy to get over a hurdle like that.

Ross. Oy!

I think Ross is the front-runner for the Insane Rookie of the Year award.  He's like DoppleEddie.

He's advocating for a station format change to All Antique Phonograph! All The Time!

If he's legit, and not doing shtick, I'd say we could consider reopening the hall of shame.

Not that I condone the shenanigans of this guy, but sometimes I think the show needs new enemies to thrive. A part of me enjoys when idiots like this get on the line. Witnessing Tom wrangle dopes is the best part of the show.

It does suck when it gets out of control and the lines are tied up with nothing but crank callers and misanthropes. But it also gets monotonous when there's a string of fawning conflict-free calls. In moderation, bad callers are the spice of the show.

Not sure this Ross character has what it takes though. As far as spices go, he's no saffron.

I loved how Tom started to chuckle as he thought of ways to dispose of Ross.

I noticed that a lot of FOTs love to hate. That's kind of pathetic.

I like Ross! The Best Show needs a new nemesis! James knows how to ruin fun for everybody, but if Ross becomes a regular caller... OH MAN. That guy shows up with his soda all shook up and it's only going to sharpen Tom's knives.

Of course, this could end terribly like Cap't Jack, and there's nothing cool about that. He did sound an awful lot like that guy who got GOMP'd right out of the gate at the beginning of the show.
