How is Facebook fun, again? I just signed up, and it's like a Busy Box for adults. You know the little panels with loads of buttons, knobs and buzzers that don't do anything? You sit a baby in front of it and they click and button push happily for hours? If that baby was "poking" and Zombie Fighting with no one, it would be Facebook.

Nothing '08 about my "I Don't Get It". Just the same stuff that's bugged me for years.

MST3K -- Maybe I haven't seen enough to judge. What little I'd seen in the past wasn't funny. Should I give it another chance? Should I just move on?

Bubble Tea -- A caller to the show already summed up my feelings on this.

Wilco -- An ancient topic around here, but a lot of smart people I know seem to love 'em. Why? I like some alt-country but Wilco is so boring. There's no hooks and every song sounds equally forgettable.

Jim Gaffigan -- Seems like a good guy. I get his mainstream appeal, but no idea why he's championed by the alt-comedy crowd.

Physics -- Dropped out of high school physics class. To this day, I refuse to understand.

Religion -- What's the deal with that stuff?

I don't think we are supposed to reply to these, but I think it's because the alt-comedy crowd likes a well-written joke as much as anyone. That the alt-comedy crowd likes great comedians that aren't in that realm is much to their credit. There is already enough judgmental hipsterness in that crowd when someone who put some work into craft comes through.

But man am I with you when it comes to MST3K.

I liked it when they actually were alt-country.  AM is a great album.

I get that. Funny is funny. I like any comedian that makes me laugh, even if unsanctioned by the AST tastemakers. I respect the guy and feel he's an amusing performer. It's just the material that doesn't do much for me.
