Cold streak: HBO Comedy.  They went from probably the two best comedy shows ever made (The Larry Sanders Show and Mr. Show) to some of the worst (Entourage, Tourgasm, etc).  Flight of the Conchords is charming, but I still think it's pretty grim.

Hot/cold streak: I was gonna say Kenneth Branagh 1989-1996, because of Henry V, Peter's Friends, Much Ado About Nothing, In the Bleak Midwinter, and Hamlet, but then I realized Frankenstein and Dead Like Me are in there. In any case, he's had an ice cold streak post-Hamlet.

Hot hot streak: Michael Ritchie, 1972-1976 (Prime Cut, The Candidate, Smile, The Bad News Bears). Already discussed in the Movies... thread. I've now seen The Bad News Bears, it's every bit as good as people say, and thus it extends the hot streak even further. Still haven't seen Downhill Racer (1969), which preceeded Prime Cut, but I have a copy coming my way soon.

Hot Streak:
Not taking anything away from his "classic period," but Miles Davis 1965-1972.  Begins with E.S.P and ends with On the Corner.  Within that you get Miles Smiles, In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, Water Babies, Miles in the Sky, Live Evil, and a few more flawless records.

Also, Scott walker Scott 1-4 is quite a streak as well.

Cold streak: Netflix. 5 straight movies that are scratched at various levels and then a disc that is straight-up broken. For shame, previous renter of Northern Exposure season 1.

Cold streak: the rapper Coolio.  He was huge when I was in high school.  Last I heard, he was doing an online cooking show.

Cold streak: The piano. After becoming a staple in a lot of homes and the place where people would congregate at a party after a few drinks to sing and whatnot, it's been dialed down to maybe only the occasional keyboard gathering dust.

Hot streak: The IDEA of guitar. Air guitar championships and Guitar Hero proves it. And further proof of the cold streak for piano is it's exclusion from the instruments in Rock Band. Let's all be thankful for that.

I'd extend it to include Get Up With It (1974) and the Japanese-tour madness of Aghartha/Pangea (1975). These latter two initially sound like the worst kind of jazz-fusion excess, until you get into them.

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

I agree, Jouster.  But don't you think this is true in part because when it first aired Twin Peaks was absolutely, utterly, completely (insert additional hyperbolic synonym here) unlike anything anyone had ever seen on television?

If only for saddle shoes on Audrey Horne, t'would have been enough.

Good one, though the presence of Ditko and Kirby complicate it.  I guess you could say all three of them had cold streaks once they stopped working together, though I still like most of Kirby's solo stuff.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
