When I got my first CD player for Christmas.  I almost opened my sister's present first...PiL's '9' on CD, but was stopped in the nick of time.  "A CD?  Thanks, sis...I gues--OHHHHH..."

I got "Echo & the Bunnymen" too, but PiL was opened first.

Does it count if my first CD was given to me as a gift? My brother came back from Japan after a year away and he gave me a Sony Discman and T. Rex "Electric Warrior" with Japanese liner notes (I still have it).

Yeah, gifts count.  That Jane's Addiction AND the Jawbox were both gifts for me.  I have no idea what the first CD I actually bought for myself was.

I still love that record. It meant a lot to me in high school. So did "Boys for Pele" and "Choir Girl Hotel".  Tori Amos=heroine of my teenage-hood. Her, Ani Difranco, and Kathleen Hanna.

Too bad her new stuff is so disappointing.
