Tom Laffs

It cracks me up when Tom loses it mid bit.  I think the first conversation with Marky Ramone is the funniest.  Marky tells him he's gonna (gawna) beat out the intro to Teenage Lobotomy on his butt...his naked butt, and Tom lost it, had to go off mic for a second and compose himself.  It also happened during the first trial of Petey when he was pretending to be listeners voting guilty.  John lost it when, as Gene Simmons, Tom had him repeat the word, "Fontasy", over and over.  You can actually hear the smile on his face.  That stuff cracks me up.

Tom didn't really "lose it", but Keith Kincaid got him pretty good when he reveals that Bryce caught the fox in the woods.  The closest JW ever came to totally losing it is Montgomery Davies.

The best one that stands out in my memory is the first time Zeph Marshack called in. It sounded as if Jon spontaneously pulled this character out of his ass during the whole Poster Children debacle, and surprised Tom when he called in as the character. One of the rare times when Tom totally "lost it" during a bit.

This is why the Poster Children shows killed. Between Zeph and "the Soaker," they were masterpieces of spontaneity.

Could someone tell me the first time that Zeph calls in? I only heard the september 26th show where it seemed like he returned? Sorry, I'm kind of a new fan still....still catching up.

I'm pretty sure the first Zeph call was on the 2/7/06 show, but it was very brief.  His first extended call was on 2/14/06 during the Poster Children segment.  It starts at approx. 1:12.

Montgomery Davies = 7/11/06 show, starts at approx. 2:11.

I remember Tom had to go off mic when that guy who was into slapfighting talked about how his face was like a catcher's mitt and that he "oiled it with catcher's mitt oil."

Another one that Tom has mentioned in a couple of articles/interviews is the "Husker Dude" reference during the Old Skull call.

Tom has also said that gratuitous use of the word "son" is an attempt to crack up the other side. Sure enough, when JW uses it, you can often hear Tom hesitate for a second.

I think I've found the ultimate "Tom Laffs" bit.

Go listen to the November 29, 2005 "Jimmy Crespo" bit...a completely improvised Wurster character, and you can hear Tom literally laffing on the floor throughout the entire bit.

That is amazing. Tom is just losing it but the kid just doesn't notice.
