From Feb 21 2006:

This little miscue's pretty great. About thirty seconds in...

Just came across this one again - it's from the 12/2/03 show during the Ryan Adams unfair record review. The part where he keeps rewinding the very beginning of the vocal is pretty great.

I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Truck Nuts. I have never heard the man laugh like that.

Agreed!  That would've been the perfect entry for the "Tom's angry repetition of a word" thread, but he couldn't quite bring himself to angrily repeat it.

Hilarious!

On second listen it's scary how much that caller sounds like me, at least for that portion of the call. (For reference if you don't know, I'm Nate from St. Paul, who calls in about that Cook's Revenge thing a little while later.)

I am wondering where this Tom Laff ranks on the list of everything. I would say tied with Greatest Waffles.

Maybe its a midwest thing.  I'll have to listen to your calls and see if I think I sound like you as well.  (also for reference, I am Jeff from Milwaukee and I have just started calling the show)

That Truck Nuts laff was great. Also, I had to look up what Truck Nuts even were, to my horror.

Here's a funny article excerpt, but be warned: If you follow the link, there will be JPEGs.

http://jalopnik.com/382185/truck-nutz-now-fineable-in-florida-one-state-senator-admits-guilt

The infamous Truck Nutz have now been deemed illegal in Florida and are punishable with a measly $60 fine. If you remember, Virginia was working on enacting a similar bill that would make displaying the genitals a misdemeanor punishable with a $250 fine. What makes this even funnier is what some of Florida's senators had to say about the matter, including an admission of guilt by one.

Sen. Jim King, R-Jacksonville, said he had a set on one of his vehicles, which he described as "all pimped out." They are no more than "an expression of truckliness," he said, although he'd acceded to his wife's request to take them off.

... so where does "State Senators who use the phrase 'all pimped out' " fit in the order of things?

Below the word "truckliness," which is near the top.

This is a good one from the second half of the six-hour 9/2/03 show when Bryce (the WFMU DJ, not the pothead who lives in the lean-to) didn't show up and Tom spent most of the show calling pay phones. The laugh happens at the end of an hour-long conversation with a guy named Clem and his step-daughter. He gets accidentally disconnected and his horrified reaction turns into hysterical laughter.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.
