Current playlist:

The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine
Times New Viking - Presnt the Paisley Reich
Love of Diagrams - S/t EP
Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime EP
Goodnight Loving - Cemetary Trails

I've also been on a bit of a Ramones kick of late after finding a few of their early LPs in a used bin. I have the "All the Stuff and More" CD but Ramones definitely work better in shorter bursts. Plus, the fantastic sem-racist artwork from John Holstrom is worth the price alone.
The only Wire I care about is the one that recorded Pink Flag.

I've been listening to tons of His Name Is Alive. I don't understand why they aren't all over MTV. Catchy beats! Clever lyrics! I love it.

So true. "Mouth by Mouth" is incredibly addictive.

Warn DeFever's eccentricities make his music hell to promote, particularly for a label that's as branded as 4AD. How do you "work" a guy who sounds like the Cocteau Twins on one record, the Beach Boys on the next and Teddy Riley on the next? At least you'll never have to be overexposed to him.

I just looked up Warren Defever's Wikipedia page. Identical twins? Eaten by a wolf? Something tells me that the trivia subsection of that article explains that anecdote.

That's a solid record. Are they still a band?

Yes. They released "Detrola" in 2006. My favorite song on that album is "Get Your Curse." I love that song.

It's really funny to me that this is coming up right now, because I've been on this big early Stereolab kick lately, and was just rooting through my storage space for Mars Audiac Quintet a couple of weeks ago, when I came across a bunch of things from the 90s that I hadn't thought about in a while, one of them being "Mouth by Mouth," and I was PSYCHED!!  It's a really great record...
Now write me a receipt so I can tip on outta here...

ME TOO! I looooove me some Emperor Tomato Ketchup. I've been all about nineties twee lately, mostly because that Of Montreal thread made me want to dust off my old twee CDs.

I still listen to "Switched On" and "Peng!" fairly regularly.  One day I'd like to get my hands on a copy of "Transient Random Noise Bursts With Announcements".  That record change my life, just like "New Slang" changed Tom's!

"Random Transient Noise Bursts" - Amen!  That thing has not left my heavy rotation since I "rediscovered" it a couple of months ago - it's SO FRIGGING GOOD!  The lyrics are insanely good, the music is insanely good - IT'S INSANELY GOOD!

I'm apparently going through a second round of teen angst as I approach the 15th anniversary of my 14th birthday and have been listening to Fun House by Iggy and the Stooges and Lust for Life by Iggy Pop.  Almost exclusively.  And I just finally got my first ever Big Star CD, which is a weird one called "Live" of just live radio stuff.  Chilton's acoustic "Ballad of El Goodo" breaks my heart every time.  So does "Thirteen" and even the creepy "Motel Blues" speaks to me as I get ever closer to becoming a dirty old man.  I think my life is about to enter some weird hangover period.  :-\
