"A world gone soft"? Where is this namby-pamby pusstopia I keep hearing America's turned into? 'Cause it still seems pretty intensely devoted to pork gravy and full-contact sports and yelling.

Agreed. And what's going on here?! Am I insane, or is Mike's Hard Lemonade not the pussiest, most I-can't-stand-the-taste-of-beer drink on the market? My mom drinks that shit!

ok as a guy who sees this ad on during sports on tv, i guess i can speak to this.  without trying to sound too sexist, malt based beverages like mike's hard lemonade are seen as 'girl drinks', so sports watching men like me are an untapped market for this product.  it's pretty obvious the ad is meant to reframe the drink as 'hard' and 'edgy' by juxtaposing it with 'soy' instead of the sweet beverage a girlfriend likes to drink because she can't taste the alcohol.

i'm a pretty sensitive guy, but i wouldn't hesitate making fun of a friend for drinking mike's.  it's stupid marketing that's bound to fail, i know, but fits in the same class of commercials as those axe spray ads where the women gang rape men intended for the maxim magazine crowd.

i fall into the third category of microbrew sipping snobs who looks down my nose at what everybody's drinking anyway, so this ad just bounces right off of me.  but i think this ad would fail just as bad on the dude going to a ufc fight who drinks natty light.

I actually had a Mike's phase where I drank it not because it masked the flavor of alcohol, but I liked the notion of lemonade you could get a mild buzz on. Then I realized, well, I could probably make myself vodka lemonades at home if I wanted.

Then I gave up and started drinking this St. Paul-brewed Irish amber called Finnegan's, which is made with potatoes. It rules.

Lemons, unlike soy, are completely bad-ass.

That's why you often see weak children setting up Soy stands on the corner of the block.

Why isn't vodka and lemonade a more popular drink?

Why isn't bourbon and Moxie a more popular drink?  It's chocolatey!

People who hate fags hate faggy lemonade alcohol drinks so this ad is intended for people who hate fags to get them on board and let them know that Mike's hates fags and their faggy soy products.  It's to be hoped that soy is perceived as more faggy than lemonade.

Mike's Hard Lemonade gives me dreadful heartburn.  I think anyone who can drink it regularly is a real mensch.  Or at least has a very macho stomach.
