The Pitchfork indier-than-thou attitude is a strange pivot from Wyclef Jean superfan.

I'm no Wyclef superfan, I've said that several times now
hes a decent musician and rapper something I can easily contrast with Wayne since they did a song together
a song I wouldn't have known about but for looking on youtube trying to see why this dude is so popular.

Picking Wyclef to compare him to, just because they did a song together, was probably the problem here since Wayne's appeared on songs by pretty much anyone working today.

That said, I agree, this whole thing can just go on and die.

Yes, that too. I was never a fan but he did have some mild popularity back in 2001 or so.

Ryan Adams might have to thank Osama Bin Laden for that bit of popularity.

I enjoy some of his music... but he's a first class asshole who doesn't know how to control himself.
