You were right, Sarah, Ogunquit was a mob scene. Lovely place, but Americans on holiday weekends are just about the most insufferable people I can think of (myself included, apparently).

I'm sorry to have been right, Fido.  You should have come here.  Apparently the main parade--which I missed--consisted of emergency vehicles and six so-called floats.  The next day's shirt-tail or Calathumpian parade (a less formal affair that used to be quite rowdy), which I did see, was much the same.  It was quite pleasant, except for the damn sirens.
