Scott Walker seems to receive most of his acclaim from outside the United States. People I know who love him don't speak English as their first language and if you look at critical acclaim, most of it hails from European countries especially Germany. Yes, I have done a lot of research on the appeal of Scott Walker because I don't understand it!

The new PJ Harvey album over and over again.

That really is a stunner, that one.

Just getting to it. Falling in love.

What's not to like?

Cossacks Are - Scott Walker

Od końca lat siedemdziesiątych rzadko pojawiały się jego nagrania. Od 1980 roku wydał trzy albumy: Climate of Hunter w 1984, Tilt w 1995 oraz The Drift w 2006 roku. Napisał też i wyprodukował w roku 1999, muzykę do filmu Pola X w reżyserii Leosa Carax’a.

W październiku 2003 roku Walker otrzymał, za wkład w rozwój muzyki, nagrodę od brytyjskiego magazynu Q, a w 2006 roku został uhonorowany nagrodą MOJO.

I never finished that Scott Walker doc because the music didn't measure up to the platitudes.  Thought I was the only one who felt that way.
The instrumentation is okay sometimes, but his vocal stylings are too much for me.

This is better ...

Scott Walker's music is easier to love than like.

Scott Walker is one of those artists I can only listen to at night. Daytime listening is completely out of the question.

Revisiting this album after hearing her at the end of True Grit. Truly remarkable album.

The first song on that album, "Sweet Is the Melody", is so gorgeous.

I don't quite understand his recent resurgence in popularity.  It seems pretty aged.

Out of his oeuvre, I've only listened to Scott 4 and Tilt. I liked the former, but didn't particularly care for the latter.

There's something about his voice that I find slightly grating. It's hard for me to explain.

Is NO ONE making jokes about the Wisconsin governor, here?

You bunch of music nerds!
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Nah.

I'm too busy working on lame Charlie Sheen jokes.
