I've been on a kick of pop-punk stuff I was into from the ages of 16-19. Don't Back Down is so friggin' awesome. It's so catchy with amazing choruses and melodies. They listened to a ton of early Beach Boys and bubblegum stuff before they made this and it shows. The final song on the album is "I Can't Get Over You" and is a duet with Lisa Mahr of the late, great Cub. It really should have been a huge single for them, in a fair and just world.

LOVE the queers.  I think you and I lead parallel musical lives, Greggulator.

Also, another winner I've gleaned from this thread is King Tuff.  Thanks for that, Grote. Speaking of Pop punk, I hear some shared Groovie Ghoulies influences in this (meaning King Tuff and the Ghoulies seem to draw from some similar pools).

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Suspect Device

I just found the studio version on an old Lookout! covers comp on Spotify. Two great tastes that taste great together!

Thom Yorke's "Cymbal Rush" for about the 40th time in a row.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Andy Zax' "Glam + Art + Prog = Glarg!" playlist on Spotify, subscribed to by such luminaries as Jon From Maplewood and Sasha Frere-Jones.

Thought some of you might appreciate this:

A few weeks ago I got asked by the music editor of the local daily paper to sit in on a jury for the "Best of" the city for the "punk/metal" category, one of the many categories for the year-end awards feature they're running next weekend.

Along with the four other jurors, I picked a long list of ten in the first round, ranking them 1-10 with the converse of points applied (ie #1=10points). Once the long list was tabulated, we had a collective short list of five and we revoted for a yet-to-be disclosed winner.

But the thing is that I think all of us unknowingly ranked this grind/sXe noise trio called Six Brew Bantha very, very high, as sort of a goof...like the Jesse Jackson bit in Eddie Murphy's Delirious, only with Power Violence. But they got so many votes that the paper now has to include them in the reader's choice awards with all these artists with budgets and production and agents and such. It's an internet vote/poll type thing, so, of course, now they're clobbering everyone in that category as every hardcore kid on every message board everywhere is casting votes and now in on the joke.

The poll is on the left side. A video of them playing under a bridge with power generators in on the right. If you vote, you can see the running results afterwards.

I hope the comedy translates:
