They really can be good if they're made right.  I agree that if they're thick, they're disgusting.

The really good one that I had had a lot of pepper and spiciness to counter the sweetness of the tomato.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Yup, lots of pepper and lots of hot sauce, that's essential.

I have an unopened 1993 Carolina Blue soda celebrating the Tar Heels' national championship.  I wonder what it's like on the poison scale?

I had 1983 NC State, 1992 Duke, 1986 New York Mets (RC Cola), and the prize of them all 1981 Clemson Tigers championship sodas, but they all rusted through and leaked out.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

I have a Rod Carew Coke bottle (glass) which I think was honoring his HOF entrance. I had it in a box under the stairs at my parents house and I looked at it a few years ago and it was half empty. It wasn't open, seemed to be sealed tight and there wasn't any pop or stickiness in the box or on the bottle. Does soda evaporate over time even when sealed? It was probably under the stairs for about 15 years.

In 1990, my mom got me a Husky Cola as a joke during a trip to Seattle. I was a diehard WSU fan, so I refused to touch it. We still had it in the refrigerator as of the late 90s; I don't know where it went off to after that.

scotch

I agree.
Sometimes I wonder if the people who go on and on about it are doing so out of some weird machismo, since it seems to be guys who spend a lot of time preoccupied with old school manliness. But that would be too weird a thing to do and most alcoholic beverages are acquired tastes.

Nah, scotch is the only hard alcohol that I can drink straight on ice. It goes down smooth and doesn't taste like candy. That's the appeal of it.

I am sure that people genuinely like it, but it is up there with wine in drinks that people who like it will blather on and on about or appear to feel proud of themselves for liking. However, I love wine so I understand it with wine. Not liking Scotch makes that behaivor less palatable.

I hate that kind of whiskey machismo, I run into it all the time. As I said in the other thread, when it comes to whiskey I really can't stand cheap blends. But a smokey, xx-year old single malt like Aardbeg or Laphroaig, which fills up a whole room with a smell of tar, can be heavenly, be it straight up, with some water, or on the rocks. One or two is enough though.
