When Tom was talking about how intimidated he was at the Don Rickles show ("He's up there with the mic making fun of everybody."), all I could think about was this is probably how a lot of callers feel when they call The Best Show.

The hunter became the hunted.

I would like to see you get picked-on at a Don Rickles show only to have it turn into a friendly two-hander like it happens on The Best Show, Jason.

Rickles: "That's a nice beard, Jason. Does it whistle Dixie and hold rallies?"
Jason: "No, but it does whistle 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia.'"

Well, if we're going to get into this I hope it can be kept to a kind of "who's your favorite Beatle?" level, but I go with Gary because he has more joie de vivre, a wider range of interests, musical tastes that fit better with mine, and a bigger repertory of jokes. Also, I suspect that Vance has undiagnosed Asperger's, which is not a moral judgment but can make for some uncomfortable listening.

I enjoy Gary a lot, particularly his many vocal tics (words suddenly said with tremendous emphasis, the tough-guy voice). Also I like Vance, and I liked the Sherman Helmsley tribute, but he's generally overshadowed by Gary.

Vance is the Cyclops to Gary's Wolverine.

Vance is the best! I love that he's so different from Tom. I like Gary too, but Vance is something else.

My favorite thing about Vance is how he'll lose interest and just walk away

Am I the only one who puts Don Rickles in the same category as Tom puts the Red Hot Chili Peppers? You hang around long enough and people will think of you as a legend. But he's just an old guy who insults people with old hackneyed jokes. I just don't get the appeal.

Nah. I'm a fat southern dude. Don Rickles would eat me alive.

Nice. I can totally hear the whooshes as they fly each part of the logo in and then the tough guy announcer saying the name of the show on the FX promo.

A funny little moment I got a kick out of was when he was doing a Yes imitation that wasn't a "duet", so he gave a crescendo of "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

I think shortly after that when Tom kept saying 'I put this together to...' he was trying to see if the guy would jump in and say 'ROCK'. I probably would have, and perhaps gotten a heave ho for trying to do a duet again. But who knows...
