Like I said in the chat, pies are for everything but eating--sitting on window sills, going into people's faces, getting fucked by Jason Biggs, etc. Cake wins.

And by "going into people's faces," I mean in the comical, "What Would You Do?" way.

My brother once got mad that we were having pie (when we were very young) and screamed "I can't stand the pie format! What don't you understand about that?" at my mother and I.

I personally think pie is delicious. Especially apple pie or tart cherry.

Or blueberry.

Or chocolate cream.

And all the other kinds of pie.

I am guessing this relates to something said on tonights show, so I imagine Paul F. let his thoughts be known. He is absolutely right. Cake is much better.

However, I don't think its a majority opinion. I find cooked fruit disgusting so I don't like pie (I also don't like the others, I've been grilled exhaustively in my life about every type of non-fruit pie). Every time it's come up no one has ever heard of anyone disliking pie across the board and they think I am crazy. I have friends who don't like cake and they don't get that kind of scrutiny.

Good cake is better than good pie, although bad pie (even hostess fruit pies) is arguably better than bad cake.

I'm a pie man all the way:

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I have long held the opinion that cake is overrated. Sure, good cake is awesome, but your average birthday cake is like eating a sponge sprinkled with sugar and probably some sort of food coloring.

You are absolutely right about this. I occasionally make this sour cream chocolate chip pound cake that's always been one of my favorite desserts.

Well, you've obviously never had Tipsycake www.tipsycakechicago.com/.  Their cakes are amazing!

Another cake-related sidenote, my friend Ashley makes these awesome prints, buttons, shirts, and stationery at imsmitten.com

As the best man at my brother's wedding, I program-directed his bachelor party. It was supposed to be a pie fight, held on the shores of Lake Michigan. But our Dominick's didn't have any pies that day, at all. Just ice-cream cakes. Which turned out to be a lot better - you don't have to throw the whole thing at once, you can just grab a fistful, so the fight lasts longer. From that day on, I choose cake.
