Ever been mistaken for a celebrity?
« on: December 03, 2006, 07:43:31 PM »
I guess in this case I should say "celebrity."

TWO - count 'em, TWO - separate people in Las Vegas mistook me for all-time Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings this weekend.

A couple of people I know mentioned to me at the time that we (sort of) favored, but no one had ever mistaken me for anyone before.

I got "you look like that guy in that movie" (turned out to be Paul Bettany) from a waitress a few weeks ago.  Not that it would be so bad to be hooked up with Jennifer Connelly, but...

From now on, I'm going to say, in an accusatory tone, "What?  All blond-haired, pale white guys look the same to you?"  Then I'm going to go in to the Jazzman routine and talk about how hard life is for people like me.

Anyone else been mistaken for a celebrity?
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Never been mistaken for a celebrity, but I've had random people at random points in my life on multiple occasions say I resembled:
a) John McEnroe
b) Noah Wyle (or, as it was put on two occasions, "he looks like Cahtah from E Ah!" - Long Islandese for "Carter from ER")
c) Tommy Smothers

Now, none of these people look anything like each other.  ???

This is a picture of me.

And this is star of stage and screen Wilfred Brimley.

I concede the similarities, but it doesn't make the hurt go away.

Do you explode into a tentacle monster and attack Kurt Russel?
Who ever heard of a dinosaur with a head full of grease and an out of tune guitar?

Yes, because it was the right thing to do, and a tasty way to do it.

CPM,

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

All I know of Jerry Clower is gleaned from a couple of late-night commercials for his "greatest hits."  My belief is that all of his jokes ended with the above exclamation as punchline.  Close enough?

A total stranger came up to me in a bar and yelled "DUDE, YOU LOOK EXACTLY LIKE BRONSON PINCHOT!!"

Needless to say, I was unimpressed.

Thought I would do the grand tour of posts so I don't dupe existing threads (as I have done).

Although I cannot see it myself, I am regularly told that I look like Kevin Bacon.  Sometimes, I am asked if I *am* Kevin Bacon.  I'll always remember the day riding to work on the bus and a woman nervously asking me, "are you Kevin Bacon?"  And then later on that same day -- side by side with a gent at the urinals -- having the dude say, "Excuse me, but has anyone every told you that you look like Kevin Bacon?"  I cannot put my finger on it, but there is something disturbing about being asked that when you are shaking off.

Whoops! Forgot the tags. Check out Grimcat. Or Catlock, but that sounds more like a portmanteau of Matlock and cat.
