I'm listening to the Mac/Jimmy Crespo face-off for the first time; does anyone have or know of any other Mac calls?

Mac was a big part of me first discovering the show.  Before I started listening live, I watched a lot of the videos on Youtube and listened to a lot of clips on www.bestshowvault.com ... I wish he'd call in again.  He makes such a good thorn in Tom's side that nothing but comedy can come from it.

Aw, that's a great one Samir. I also checked out the vault for the Crespo call. I get the feeling there's more because Tom makes a reference to a prior call where Mac refers to Yngwie Malmsteem as 'Wiggy Malmsteen'. Grade A material.

He was kind of a semi-regular caller for awhile. There's one show where Tom talks to his father that's pretty funny. The Jimmy Crespo call is far and away his shining moment.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Mac calls at 50:53 of the 1/17/06 show, which is post-Crespo:

Mac's back and he's still claiming to own a book called The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal by Daniel Bugs-a-pan ("It exists!!!!). He's a bit worn out from a hard day of pointless English/Language Arts tests and delivers a nice riff on the social vs. academic aspects of the educational experience.

(He also talks about Rush in this call.  He mentions "O Baterista"!)

Not taking sides here, but I own the book in question and can confirm its existence. I even own the 2 CDs by author's band Slow Horse. Not bragging.

Lies, lies, and more lies. For shame, MoS. There's no book with that name.

Just listened. "Yeah, YYZ is like a drum solo that they gave a song title to."

Kid, if you're out there, stay pure.

But I'm flipping through the pages right now. Can't you hear the noise of flipping pages?

i 2nd kickthebobo's mention; i rediscovered that moment at the beginning of an old tape from when i had recorded some of the show, and it is 2-3 hillarious minutes.  Tom reels him in, starts asking him about his tastes in music, then GOMP, "thought i was your friend...i'm your foe."

could be wrong, but i always thought that might've been Mac (Yuu-wiggie-malmstein rock history kid), who i've speculated is the kid responsible for some recent heinous crimes against the Best Show that were related to Petey.

you are right

Last night I babysat these three 7-year-old girls. One of them was talking about how she doesn't want to get picked on at school, so I taught her some Tom-style put-downs just in case.

"You're a sad little troll, and I hope tomorrow you get a swirlie."

Then I had to explain what a swirlie is. Honestly. Kids these days.
