I am listening to this show in 5 minute increments all weekend to hear any FOT references but it...is...so..hard..to get through.

I'm going to reiterate something, and I hope everybody takes it to heart.

It took a full two years of doing The Best Show before I stopped getting a regular flood of hate mail. Up to that point, most emails were some variant of 'you suck', 'play some music' or 'you're not funny'.

They've done two shows now. Yeah, maybe they're not where they should be yet. I'm sure they know the shortcomings of their show and the areas that they hope to improve upon. After doing The Best Show for eight years now, I come away from every show knowing what I did wrong and could've done better.

So I am going to ask everybody to ease up on them. My teasing has apparently sparked something that has grown beyond what it should've, and I regret that.

I don't hate Andy and Frangry and I don't bear them any ill will. I was just teasing them the way I have teased other shows throughout my time on the station. And that's all it was meant to be.

So please don't post nasty comments on their blogs or call their show with the intent to ruin it. Let them do what they do. If you like it, then listen. If you don't, then let it stop there.

Everybody at WFMU is doing a show for free, and doing a call-in show is its own unique high wire act, so they don't deserve any added grief or stress.

You guys are all good people, and I know you're going to do the right thing in this matter. I appreciate it.

Well said. So modest. And quite civilized.

Frankly though, I couldn't stand that attempt at a show before I ever heard you comment about them. My personal opinion has nothing to do with you or your show.  Yes, 2 or 3 shows is enough to know if there's much potential. I for one certainly won't be listening further, despite the can't -look- away- from- an -accident like quality that, to me,  seems to be its only compelling feature.

Many of the shows on WFMU are unlistenable, so I don't see why people are so up in arms about one particular show rather than another.

I call that show because I think it's the best way to spend the most tedious hour of the week. I may be irritating, but I am not pranking them. They said they want people to drink when they call, so that's what I do. You see! If anyone is responsible for my making irritating phone calls to Shut Up, Weirdo, then Andy and Frangy, who by the way says she likes me to call, are responsible. I hope you can tell the difference between enthusiastic appreciation and prank calls. I am just trying to fit in somewhere.

I think Andy and Frangry may regret the cessation of hostilities:  most of the callers last week were pranksters, and their calls were the most entertaining.  I'll be curious to see what happens without them this Friday.
