Because you're going on a trip I made an exception for you and elevated your post count. NOW do you see the secrets before you on the FOT board?

Tom.

Oh man, thank you very, very much. This completes my entertainment coccoon for the flight. American Lion for Reading/Education. The Best Show for Listening/Comedy/Education.

And again, my apologies to Colin for being a jerk. I misunderstood what you were saying.

Also, I'm really not bluffing. I promise to participate in the forum appropriately. Pay my dues. I'm not looking to jump the line.

Come on, Jason

I only brought it up so that TheMush wouldn't have his feelings hurt by your well-intended but cryptic post, Colin.  You know, making the new guy feel welcome and all.

I WASN'T kidding about him posting 45 consecutive pictures of the same cat, and frankly am disappointed that hasn't happened yet.

Trinsky - I would do this, but I've been having a hard time finding a picture of a cat on the internet. I will redouble my search.

Well, apparently I need to start lurking less and posting more.

I've got some traveling coming up and I was wondering if there was a way to download some of The Best Show archive, and if there is a way to do such a thing, is there any opposition from Tom or the fine folks of WFMU?

I'm in no rush to burn through 50 posts, but there is a way to download and save the newer, pop-up player enabled episodes.

It's not as effortless as Mel's shiny podcast, but the music is still part of the program.  (Stream law requires that, unless you have hefty permission, podcasters remove the music.)  The end result is similar to recording the archive in real-time, just faster and better fidelity.

1.  Right click the pop-up player link and Save Link As to your desktop.  It'll save as a "listen.m3u" file.

2.  Open that listen.m3u file with Notepad, and you'll see a URL that looks mostly like this:
http://mp3archives.wfmu.org/archive/kdb/mp3jump.mp3/0:11:1/0/BS/bs081216.mp3

3.  Open that URL in a browser and Save Page As whatever you want to name it.

Does this tap into some massive WFMU archive?  Is that archive permanent?  Don't know.  Also, I don't know how this would work on a Mac.  I'm assuming that we're all saving it to our Zunes.

Indeed.  As the band leader, the other guys depend on me to have new gems for van trips.  I'm getting down to the wire as we've been through all the S&W records, Best Show Vault etc.

Yeah, time to get involved.  All I know is that I would rather be going back into the history of the Best Show instead of Keith and the Girl.

Is that where I should post my cat pictures?

In the back of the first room there is a door that leads to a second room.  The first step is finding the door.  When you reach the second room, there is another door.
