Yeah, I have zero interest in Lost.  I can tell it's just meaningless mystery-mongering.

I hate lost!!! The characters are awful, the acting is nothing (for this scene, clench your jaw and look intense.) and the way they drag on plot lines is so obnoxious. They clearly think it's a david lynch who shot laura palmer style of arc, but the beauty of twin peaks is that every mundane scene was engaging, lost has got nothing going on ever.

I had the same experience with Lost as Patrick did - made it 7-8 episodes. Snoozefest. And everything seems like an afterthought. "No maaan, you don't understand - the others are an island who is the afterlife which is...." Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!

In the hope of building a consensus on the matter: I bailed out of Lost after watching the first episode. No thanks.

I like Lost but it's far from perfect. The good parts are enough to keep me watching, but some of it is downright infuriating, especially the fact that if anyone asked the questions that any reasonable person would ask in a given situation, the mystery would've been solved about 50 episodes ago.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

You will like this: We happened to name our dog Hurley after Endurance exploration photographer Frank Hurley AND Minutemen drummer George Hurley..what a combo, right? That is what we thought.

Yet every stranger we run into who asks what his name is, we get the standard, "Oooh, after the guy on 'Lost', right?"

Uhg.

I thought this was supposed to about stuff we're sure is great, but won't watch/listen to, not stuff we watched/listened to and didn't like.

My pick: Lawrence of Arabia.  I've heard a lot of praise for it over the years, but I can't.  Not even sure why.

Lawrence of Arabia is really good. I think you'd like it. It's no Hacksaw-ist, but still.

I got one: the films of Bela Tarr. I own at least three of them on DVD, haven't seen a single one. I'm sure they're great.

Satantango is funnier than you might think.  Except for the cat torture.

I know what you mean about Lawrence of Arabia.  I have recorded it seventeen thousand times and never watched it for some reason.  (In fact, I just recorded it for the seventeen thousand and first time yesterday.)  It took me forever to watch Citizen Kane, too, although I finally managed that 10-15 years ago.  I still haven't seen Doctor Zhivago, either.

Re Lost, I find the mystery ungripping and don't like any of the characters, but I stick with it because I like having an hourlong show to watch every day.

I've only heard great things. I can't explain it.

Werckmeister Harmoniak is stellar.
