A KISS song would be great - either Black Diamond or 100,000 Years.
I did suggest "Hard Luck Woman" (dedicated to Sheila Larson, perhaps. Although "Strutter" might be more appropriate for her), because, if memory serves me, Ted had mention that song on the show once.

I think he should start with, "Standing on the corner, suitcase in my hand... That's all you get." And then go into a Punk Tango version of "Perfect Day" with Tom.
"Dad gets mad."

I would also love a Magnolia-esque group sing-a-long of "Wise Up".  I'm thinking Hodgman can end the song like Stanley with a choked "give up" and Tom roars in saying that HE WILL NEVER GIVE UP.

I remember hearing Ted say he was a fan of the Minutemen in an interview.  I guess if he played anything by them that would be great.  Corona, Bob Dylan Wrote Propaganda Songs, and Little Man With a Gun In His Hand would all be amazing.

I'd like to hear a duet with Tom as Elvis Costello.  Something like Busy bodies

The song "Whisper to a Scream" would be a great one. That's the one that Costello sang with the guy from Squeeze (Gifford , or Tillbrook, or Dillbrook, or whatever).

Ted's voice is well-suited to the Squeeze guy's part of the song ... and Tom could go crazy on the Elvis part.

YES!  I'd love to hear "Wrote a Song for Everyone" or "Who'll Stop the Rain."

AGAIN, I'd like to hear Ted Leo doing "Another Girl, Another Planet."

I'll be tuned in.
Well it's been a long time since I've had my favorite drink

I posted it over there, but I will repost it over here; Ted as Geddy Lee (Teddy Lee?) and Aimee as Aimee Mann in an acoustic blowup of "Time Stand Still"

Left of the Dial?  Cowboy Song?

if youre referring to the replacements and thin lizzy, i second this.  in fact, i second almost every song/duo/group scenario pitched.  especially:
